Time to start thinking about next year's roster

First, a disclaimer. I am not giving up hope on the season. If Tyron and Lee can play next week, we have a chance to beat the Eagles at home and still make a playoff run. However...

I said it in May, this roster was not upgraded enough to seriously challenge to go deep into the playoffs and the offseason suspensions would kill the season. FO brought in serious retreads like Carroll, Paea, Blanton, Moore, and drafted rookies to replace an entire secondary. It was a terrible plan. And we all knew it.

But it is time to start thinking about a better and more aggressive offseason plan for next year. We need to make moves like the Eagles have and will. Not saying I agree with all of their moves. But hoping is not a plan. So...

1. Franchise D Law. Need to see him do it two years in a row.
2. Re-sign Irving. He will cost a bunch, but better to get it done now than have to pay both him and D Law in the same year.
3. Re-sign Zack Martin. No brainer
4. Cut Tyronne Crawford and recoup some cap savings.
5. Sign a real WDE. As well as D Law and Irving have played, to reach its full potential, this defense needs a real threat at WDE. Not just a converted DT, like Tyronne Crawford.
6. Sign or draft in early rounds a talented WLB. We simply cannot be held hostage by Sean Lee anymore. As good as he is when he plays, we have no backup plan when he inevitably gets hurt.
7. Sign or draft in early rounds a real swing tackle. Today was the end of Green, Bell and the crap we have trotted out there backing up Tryon. Sadly, Tyron could be in decline because of his back, which could be cause of recent groin injury. We have to have someone who can step in and not have what happened today.
8. Sign or draft in early rounds an athletic, speed receiver. Since Alvin Harper, we have not had a WR that can take the top off of a defense. We need a guy like Will Fuller or Desean Jackson that can hold a S deep. To help Dez and Zeke underneath.
9. Sign a TE. I suspect that Witten will retire. We'll need a good replacement.

THoughts?

For me, LB, LB, DT, WR (if a #1 is there, I go for it), OT, S (again, thanks Byron) and OG are really needed.

That's praying that the young guys in the secondary step it up to the next level.

Oh, and speed — we need a lot of players that can flat out fly.

You forgot one thing. Replace coaching staff.

That's been a given for a decade. Nothing would make me happier than to replace the clapper with a true creative, young coach like McVay. And actually get the potential out of Zak, Dez, and Zeke in their primes.

Your drafting all those players in early rounds? How many early rounds do we have.
Both sides of the trenches and LB for sure.

They need:

- Two new LBs, one as insurance against Lee being hurt, which he likely will.
- A real 1 Tech. None of these grocery bag boys that Marinelli has a real boner for.
- Probably need another CB. Brown is lost and I suspect what we see now is the real Brown.
- Depth at OT. If Smith is not going to get surgery for his back and try to make this work year after year, you need a better swing tackle than Green, who is an injury issue himself.
- A TE that can stretch the field. Love Witten but he's at the end of his rope.
- A playmaking WR opposite Bryant.

And that's just off the top of my head.

But there is no chance they will get all of that because they will likely cheap out in FA again finding bargain bin losers like they seem to love.

Well. At least the Skins and Gmen lost. We’re number 2!

how long is it going to take to get the 'roster' to win? 20 years? It comes down to coaching. We're not winning with this staff. We'll always be looking forward to next year's draft to get those two players that will at least let us get to the conference championship

Would be nice to get some speed on this team, especially on offense.

Our offense is usually great and all but we honestly need a field stretched out there

Get a Qb in the same class as Wentz would be a good start

My thoughts for next year is get a quarterback. Preferably one that doesn't leave his LT out to dry with his lack of pocket presence.

MLB, WLB and LT are top priorities for the draft, as well as get new coaches
