I think it is time we package together some of those 7th rounders and start trying to move up. While this draft is deep, it isn't deep in a lot of areas where we need help. Obviously, a 2nd and a 7th aren't going to do it, but it's time to get active.

I'm all for trading up to get a DE and a DT in round 2. Quality over quantity. Or maybe a LB as another option in there.

7th rounders aren't worth much. some of those are compensatory picks and can't be traded. I think we are sitting pretty and somebody is going to fall to us.

Liking the Dallas position and the players that are still on the Board @47, maintain the slot and take Best Player Available...... unless you can squeeze into the 3rd or move up from 78 and get another early round choice as a BPA.

Right, but you could swap 2nd and maybe add a 4th or a 5th and then use some of those 7th round picks to move back up in the 4th for 5th if you want to.

Let's see how things shape up before panicking in a trade up.
There are several good options at dline for us that may be there at 47.
With a bunch of non dline players (WRs, QBs, OTs, CBs, TEs) possibly getting taken early, it's not out of line to think some will be there.

Right, but you could swap 2nd and maybe add a 4th or a 5th and then use some of those 7th round picks to move back up in the 4th for 5th if you want to.

You could package all three of your 7th round picks and you would only get to the middle or back end of the 6th round.

Well, that isn't what I had in mind.

thats the ting the media will rain on us about 11 picks and coming away with some questions. But 5 or so picks in the 7th round doesn't qualify as loaded draft potential. We have to get lucky on one or two of those 7th round picks. If we get a starter or two or three situation players out of those picks it will be great.

1. We can't use compensatory picks in a trade and 2. you have to find a team that thinks the 7th will still have value...and that value won't fall out of the draft all together where they could get the player as a UDFA. Odds? That's about as likely as the Pope twerking on the balcony at his inauguration.

They would need to use future picks if they want another 4th round pick.

Mettenberger and McCarron are still available. I wonder if Jerry is going to move up to grab one of them tomorrow. Mayock has Mettenberger ranked at the top of "best available" on his board for tomorrow, originally at #40. We could use a pick from next year to move up and keep our 5th.
