This past Monday, here at Valley Ranch we were so delighted, humbled and touched to finally meet seven-year-old Timothy Brookshire of Lenoir, N.C.
Timothy, by every standard, is a miracle child, who continues to overcome the odds of his medical conditions, earning him the nickname “Tinman.” Before Timothy was even born, his parents John and Crystal were told their son would have complications “incompatible with life” and that he would only have a few days to live. Timothy came into the world with a rare heart defect, cleft lip and pallet and a chromosomal disorder called Trisomy 16, but by some miracle the Tinman defied his own life expectancy.
In September 2013, Timothy was thrown another hurdle when he was diagnosed with Langerhans cell histiocytosis, considered a rare form of cancer. Today Timothy continues to fight this disease along with his birth defects, recently undergoing his 58thsurgery.
