Tiny sliver of silver lining on D

I am going to spin the fact that one week before the start of the regular season we really don't know who half of our front 7 will be nor have we seen them in a game together yet. You have to think that absence of film or tendencies will benefit our guys at least for a week or two. Who's with me?

I don't think our D-line will kill us in a game. I don't think it will be below average, but with our offense it should keep us in the game. If our offense can't keep us in the game it not worth the money we have put into it.

If you are one week from your opener and you don't know who half of your front 7 are.......something has gone horribly wrong

Well I don't know about the surprise of "no tape on our guys" but I do think its fair to say that we haven't seen our D-line in action yet. The bad news is that we won't for awhile yet.

It's quite possible the starting line will ultimately be Lawrence, Melton, McClain & Crawford/Spencer with Mincey, Doleman, Brent & Selvie as the backups. That group has the potential to be pretty serviceable IMO. The problem is it'll be midseason before many of those guys are done with training camp (Melton, Lawrence, Spencer & Brent).

I agree. The only silver lining is that Melton, McClain, McClain, Lawrence and Spencer should all improve over the season. But doesn't mean much for the 'now'.

The only silver lining is there are several young guys who could end up being fixtures on this defense in coming seasons.
