I don't own a virtual reality headset like an Oculus, but if this game comes out, I may have to get one. It's one that will let you explore the ship in its original glory. Right now they have a limited demo, but I hope they succeed in making the full game. I've always been fascinated by the Titanic, since before Robert Ballard found its sink site. I was so excited when that happened that I stayed up all night thinking about it.

So this game will let you explore anywhere on the ship while it's still in great shape, but it will also let you explore it in real time while it's sinking. How cool is that? You can do that or you can be a character trying to solve a murder mystery. I don't expect I would be all that interested in the fictional murder mystery, but who knows. I'll post some videos of the demo at the end of this post.

I also think it would be amazing if someone created a virtual reality tour of the wreck site. They've completely mapped it and have photographed everything. Even with the best SCUBA gear on the planet, it's impossible to dive down to the wreck. The next best thing, however, would be to be able to virtually dive down and explore the thing. That goes beyond the scope of the project I'm posting videos of, but I hope someone does that. That would be enough to get me to buy an Oculus or similar device.

The one thing that's discouraging is I looked at its fund raising page (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/titanic-honor-and-glory-phase-3#/) and it says it's closed short of its goal. I don't know enough about fund raisers to know if that means it's toast or if they can just do another fund raiser and keep going. To me it sounds like a great idea, and I was considering donating until I saw that it was closed.

Here are some videos. And please note -- I have no ties to or financial interests in this project. I'm just a guy who thinks it's a cool idea.

Always been fascinated with the Titanic as well. The first book I ever checked out from the Library was on the Titanic when I was probably 7 or 8. When the movie came out in 97 I went and saw it at least 5 times with different people and to this day its still my favorite movie of all time, and I couldnt care less about friends and co-workers who say things like "man card revoked" when I tell em its my favorite....Ive always said until they get VR down to a perfect science like the Holodeck in Star Trek, I couldnt care less, but this might be somethin I have to look into...thanks for the heads up Rev!

I'm disappointed to learn that the Honor and Glory Titanic game project has been scrapped. There is another Titanic game that came out. I watched a sample on Youtube, but it doesn't look as good.

I really hope someone decides to use VR to make it possible to do virtual dive to the Titanic wreck. They've got images and a map of the entire wreck site now, so it should be possible to make. That would be amazing. I also hope someone does another project like the Honor and Glory one. I do know there's a rich billionaire who's rebuilding the Titanic. He's making the look and dimensions of the ship identical. It will have all the same rooms and everything. What will be different is it will be a diesel ship rather than a steamer, and it will have modern navigation controls including radar. I'm sure it will be required to also have a modern sewage treatment system since it's no longer legal for a ship to simply dump its sewage into the ocean. But the experience of being on the ship will be virtually the same as the original one. It's planned to set sail in 2018. They'll give out period costumes to their passengers. I so want to participate!

dexternjack, that's cool that you scubaed down to shipwrecks. My parents and my brother did that to Japanese World War II wrecks in Micronesia. My sister and I were there too, but we were too young to dive down. We still got to look at them from above with mask and snorkel. There was also a crashed Zero airplane in shallow water that we were able to skin dive down to.
