FWIW, this is from back in March regarding the Titans and Dolphins heavy interest in Tyler Smith

Tony Pauline did say that the Titans and Dolphins were looking at Smith the hardest:

“I was told the Jets will try and have Smith meet with head coach Robert Saleh, but the big tackle may not be available when the team selects at the top of Round 2. The feeling leaving Tulsa’s Pro Day is the Dolphins or Titans could swipe him off the board late in Round 1.”

We will all have to wait and see but WTBS, Inlike him more this morning than I did last night. I’ve listened to some interviews and watched some vids and he’s a good dude with massive upside. I like him better than both Connors already.

This is what encourages me about the Smith pick. It’s not just Dallas who really liked him… many teams did. He’s legit. I care more about the opinions of professional coaching staffs than some nudnik nerds in the media.

A bit OT but Dolphins have a way of finding college tackles, trying to play them at tackle to only realize they are better suited at guard.

Robert Hunt, Austin Jackson and then Lian Eichenberg. All taken in the first two rounds. Tried at LT or RT only to be moved to guard at one point.
Now with Terron Armstrong and Williams signed to play LT and LG they have Austin Jackson and Liam Eichenberg to see who can convert back to RT and not suck?

Titans also drafted Isiah Wilson the tackle from Georgia who lasted one year there. Not related to this at all but still they can make stupid decisions like the Cowboys have.

Not that it means anything at all because teams make terrible picks all the time. But smith wasn’t going to last much longer than 24, if at all. I still don’t like the pick.
I'm not a scout and always take a wait and see approach. I wanted Lloyd, only because I've seen a few Utah games. Never saw Smith play. I think the big thing that needs to come from this, is that all the chatter he could have been gotten in the late 2nd or 3rd round needs to stop. He was going late first or early 2nd all along. It may have been the wrong pick, but it was not a "reach" pick.

Interesting stuff.
Makes you feel better about the pick that other teams had heavy interest as well.

or Cowboy Fan Forum GMs.

The pick was definitely a needy one, Boys just could not take the risk of moving a few spots, for say a 4th. Hey, Jerry is on record as Tyler was the 16th highest on their board, If Smith pans out, then Jerry is a genius, If he doesn't then he will just blame his son.

If Tennessee wants an OL I’m on board. They run over every one with or without Henry

Reports are the Titans were on the phone and wanted #24 to take Smith. Truth is, we just don't know.

Regardless the pick is in. Let's hope it's a good one.

LOL, not saying much....Alarcon and probably Ball are already better than both of those suckers. But we have no choice, he's a Cowboy now and we gots to support him and hope he does well.

He was drafted slightly earlier, but fills a need. Most wanted Johnson or Linderbaum which I totally understand. I thought Linderbaum was one of the safer picks to make and would be a nice upgrade over Biadasz. However, I don't have much to complain about with our pick just looking at it just as a singular decision.

Where you can question the Cowboys is cutting Collins then drafting another OT that you think may eventually be your starting tackle. I like the line better with some combo of Tyron Smith, Connor McGovern, Linderbaum, Zack Martin, L. Collins or Tyron Smith, Tyree Smith, Biadsz, and Collins.
