TITANS, RAMS RUMBLE
Posted by Mike Florio on August 6, 2008, 1:09 p.m. UTC
The Tennessee Titans and St. Louis Rams got together on Wednesday for a joint practice, and the session spawned some extracurricular activities.
According to Terry McCormick of the Nashville City Paper, most of the trouble occurred between the Rams offense and Titans defense.
Titans cornerback Cortland Finnegan and Rams wideout Reche Caldwell mixed it up. Finnegan emerged from the scrum without a helmet (but also without a broken nose).
Then, defensive back Michael Griffin slammed Rams wideout Dane Looker to the turf. After the play, linebacker Keith Bulluck shoved Caldwell, sparking another scrum.
Then, Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch pinned Rams lineman Adam Goldberg to the ground and delivered a right hook.
On the very next play, Titans defensive end Sean Conover and Rams tackle Mark LeVoir got into it.
Amazingly, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth didn’t get involved in any altercations. Or step on anyone’s head.
“You know this defense. We’re a tough, rough defense,” Haynesworth said. “We don’t back down from anybody, and that’s how we’ve always played. Ever since that day that Lance Schulters gave us that nickname the Tennessee Tyrants, that’s what we’ve been trying to live up to.”
