Tivo'ed the game. Here's the analysis.

...#14. Miles Austin may have been one of the biggest advantages we had in the game with his excellent kickoff returns. He has got some wicked wheels. With a little help he could have taken two of them all the way.....

Go Hawks!!! :)

No disrespect, but were we watching the same game? We caught a few breaks here and there, but you'll have a hard time convincing me that our secondary wasn't the biggest problem. James got blasted in pass coverage several times but he was nowhere NEAR the problem on the TD's. The Mike Williams TD was on Newman, the Furrey TD was on Singleton/Newman, and the Roy Williams TD's were on Glenn.

What's that got to do with James? Granted, he stank in pass coverage, but he's not expected to stay with the WR's in our scheme beyond the first few yards. He turns it over to the cornes and safeties, and THAT is where we stunk it up.

In my opinion.
I think, and I don't want to speak for him, but I think it's all the plays underneath that lead to the touch downs. They repeatedly threw the ball underneath into the zone where James and Ayodele were and had serious success.

And Parcells absolutely refuses to run a nickel sometimes when the other team has their 3 WR package on the field, this is puzzling to me.

He seems to have really good field vision and a whole new gear. When he sees a hole he can flat out get after it. I'd like to see him on kickoffs next year even when Thompson comes back. I'd also like to see him in on 4 WR sets.

As I recall, ALL of the TD's were "over". Roy's first was that awesome toe-dragger in the right corner (Glenn had good coverage - just an amazing catch), Furrey's was in the right corner (on Singleton/Newman), and Mike Williams was in the right corner (again, on Newman). The only one I'm unsure of is Roy Williams' second, but I don't recall any that were underneath.

That's not to say there weren't any thrown in the short middle, but that's not where we kept getting burned (that I could tell).

Back to Bradie James...

There is a reason the guy (who was the SEC defensive POY) slipped to the fourth round of the draft...he is not a great athlete. He is slow and stiff and the next time I see him in on third and long and I going to throw something through the TV screen. James is best suited as the MLB in a 4-3, a la J. Trotter. I know that Bill likes him a lot and he's a great guy, but he is absolutely killing us.

I completely agree. I have seen some fans claim Detroit was decent, someone even called them a "damn good football team". They suck. They are pathetic. As in as bad as the Raiders and we made them look like a 14-2 team. How many players were hurt for today on the Lions?
Well I see your point. Them beating us prove our defense sucks. They don't suck, our defense does.
