Today's events have changed our focus i feel. McDonald has played under Kiffin and knows his system well. 6'2 219, nice size and is a 4'4 guy, wwich to be expected with his size. I think he is the guy to take with 2nd pick.

Elam, reid, cyprien, swearinger are far better players

Also his 40 time is 5.49 at the combine.

I think 40 time for a safety ia over rated anyways for a position that plays 20 yards off the line already. Need to look at 20 yard shuttle and 3 cone and 10 yard split, than a 40 yard dash for a position who will rarely run 40 yards.

5.49? I hope that is a typo and you meant 4.59. My 89 year old grandma can do a 5.49!!!

THIS...maybe even two rounds too early

Actually, I think there may still be better Safeties available in the 4th round.

McDonald is lucky if hes a top 120 player in this draft. 2nd round isnt even remotely close to an option. If we haven't taken a safety by the 4th I would consider him, but nothing before that.

McDonald in the 2nd would completely ruin this draft for me.

He's badly undervalued by this board. His 3 cone drill (which is more important than 40 time, IMHO) is elite. Football is a game of changing directions, not on 40 yard straight lines. Jarius Byrd ran a 4.60, and he's the best S in the free agent market.

You want McDonald based on system/ size / 40 time, yet said nothing about what he does best out on the field with the skill-set he has. lol, you just described Taylor Mays & what happened there. I'd rather take Kenny Vaccaro in the 1st if he is there, he has proven he is solid in coverage & is pretty dependable with his ability to tackle, many times putting a lick on the offensive player.

Me too, Elam & Cyprien should be there in the 2nd. Guys like JJ Wilcox and Shaun Williams should even be there in the 3rd or 4th but all of those guys are better players than McDonald at 47.

I watched the Stanford game, and he had the skillset to do anything asked of him. He played in the box, slot man, cover 2, single high. He's the only safety I've seen out of this class who even played weakside pass rush in dime 4 man sets, even running advanced pass rush techiniques like twists. I've yet to see any safety in this draft come close to displaying that kind of versatility on tape, the only one who comes close is Vaccaro.

....the tape doesn't lie: PLUS, did you see him work out at the combine? My gosh this kid's hips were stiff...not fluid at all. Moved more like a linebacker: he's a 4th rounder IMO

...that he had a good game against the Cardinal. Problem is, he didn't have enough other good games against big competition. He's slightly above avg.
