JJ's bro. 43DE/34OLB prospect. Very high motor. Not quite his brother, but athletic. We interviewed him at the combine.

What are your thoughts on this player. Can you see him as an RDE in the NFL

He's a great player. Idk why he's not slotted to go higher.

I think he'll be a first rounder.

I think he's going to be a good player but feel he is going to be a lber in the NFL not a de.

Can he bend around the edge at all? From what I've seen he's mostly power and motor.

Then again there are very few cut ups of him for some odd reason. Draftbreakdown needs to get their act together when it comes to both Watt and Basham. Would like to watch more of both

Others may think differently, but I'd have no issues taking him. I think he has a high ceiling with his best football in front of him.
He is probably third or fourth of who I would tag in the first, but I think he would be worth the pick at the end of the day. Others said it before though, would be better in a 3-4 off the football.

he basically has one years worth of tape and experience, if we are taking him then we better hope he can stay healthy but I wont be too upset with it but I would rather pick Lawson if we are going to with guys with injury history.

Knee injuries concern me. Really good athlete that was coached well. Used a lot of tackle reads at Wisconsin, so there's a bit of an adjustment for him to make, but it's an adjustment that players like to make. I thought he was alright against LSU, problem is that LSU is such a run heavy team and he struggled in that game defending the run. Really liked him against Iowa.

I think the 3-4 vs. 4-3 thing is overblown these days as in the 4-3, your DE's are now more like 3-4 OLB's because they have to chase after the ball so much. I'd like to see Watt get a little more bend, but his hand technique is really good and he has the size and athleticism to still be a very good pass rusher.

Most 3-4 teams these days run a 4 man line in subs, which is upwards for 70% of time. The distinction between a 3-4 OLB and a 4-3 DE isnt as big as it once considering most downs they line up at same postion. Granted there are players you absolutely dont want on the line in base D on run downs. I think Watt would be fine though

Not just no...but hell no.

Think Shea McClellin experiment..and how did that go???

His combine numbers compared to Watts

McClellen...
  • 6'3" Height
  • 32 3/4" Arm Length
  • 260LBS. Weight
  • 4.63 40 yard dash
  • 19 reps @225
Watt...
  • 6'4" Height
  • 33 1/8" Arm Length
  • 252LBS. Weight
  • 4.69 40 yrd dash
  • 21 reps @225
Granted Watt might be a slightly better athlete...but I just don't see the natural bend to get to the QB.
