TLH: DeMarco Murray Isn't The Answer At RB

Dallas thinks he is otherwise they wouldn't have taken Gavin Escobar in the second round they would have taken Eddie Lacey or Monte Ball both backs I really liked

There's some merit to what you posted.

I don't think the Cowboys' brain trust expect Murray to be a back that needs to dominate the game ala Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Ray Rice or someone like that.

This is incorrect. Gavin Escobar was higher on their board than Eddie Lacy and quite a bit higher than Montee Ball. They liked the depth at running back in this class, hence why they drafted Joseph Randle later in the draft.

If they thought Murray wasn't their answer at RB, they would have drafted Eddie Lacey, what your saying really doesn't make much sense. They are obviously happy with Murray otherwise they wouldn't have used a premium pick on another TE. I get they had Escobar higher on their board but you also have to factor in a need to an extent. A lot of people had a 1st round grade on Lacey, and if RB was a position they thought they needed (as a starter) Lacey would have been our second round pick. Since they are content with Murray as the starter it allowed them to wait to the 5th round to take his backup.

What a hair-brained conclusion, Murray has been fantastic and if he had something that resembled adequate run blocking he would an absolute monster. I'm a little anxiuos to see how the new head rule regarding running backs will affect him but outside of that I can see him being a huge contributor if the OL gets fixed.
