ARLINGTON, Texas -- When the Dallas Cowboys lost Kellen Moore to a broken right fibula on Aug. 2, panic set in.

The Cowboys lost their only backup quarterback with any NFL experience -- and just three games at that -- and were left with Dak Prescott and Jameill Showers as the only on-roster possibilities to be starter Tony Romo’s No. 2.

Eighteen days later, the story has changed surrounding the Cowboys’ backup quarterback position.

Prescott has simply been that good.

He is doing all the right things.
Spending hours with room in the film room, asking all the right questions, just all around working hard.
He's right, preparation breeds confidence.

I think Garrett and Dak both realize it has not been perfect, regardless of the practice game QB rating.

He had at least 3 and maybe 4 throws that either were picked or could have been picked. Only one actually was, and it called back. Another one was and Whitehead knocked it out. Sweet.
In the end, bottom line is things are going better than we could hope for overall.

That pass to Whitehead was totally on Lucky. He got boxed out on an inside route and was barely able to even get a hand on it. It wasn't a perfect pass, but I was more angry with Whitehead than Dak on that play.

Probably half of interceptions are on the WRs to some degree. But the int counts against the QB, unfortunately. Either way, we were fortunate there was not a pick, regardless of fault.

In the end, even in a rough stretch, Dak played right threw it and was tough.

That's one of the most impressive part of Dak's game that I have seen. With so many young quarterbacks, everything has to work right on their drive to score. Dak has dealt with pressure, penalties, dropped passes, and even his own mistakes. Yet none of that has affected his confidence to lead the team. He could have crumbled after that pick that was knocked out by penalty, but he instead lead them on a touchdown drive.

That was amazing to watch. I said to myself here is where he can start to prove to everybody what kind of QB he can become. He shook it off and scored a TD. I was very impressed with that
