TO deserves credit IMO

I was reading another thread about TO and his broken finger, asking why didn't he come out sooner...

Well got me to thinking. TO deserves credit for sticking it out while the game was still in doubt. Dropped passes or not, TO had to be accounted for, and the Skins were rolling a safety over both Glenn and TO most of the night. If TO comes out earlier in the game, when the game was still close, the Skins could have changed their defense to double only Glenn and get another guy in the box.

It could have made a big difference... Crayton could have had a big game being covered one-on-one, but you just never know. I think their defense was on it's heels and reacting to us all night. If TO had gone out early, we're probably not talking about a 17 point win.

I agree with this. It is always a question with this kind of injury because if he had asked to be replaced he would have looked bad. He drew attention all night and his presence helped even when he was hurt. Others opinions may vary, but I give him credit.

I was happy with TO on things he did not do. With the Skins paying so much attention to him Bledsoe was not able to get him the ball but I never saw TO complaining about it. I know people want to see TO get the ball but as Bledsoe said in the press conference after the game we can’t force the ball to him. TO will get his shots but it has to be within the offense game plan and if teams are willing to focus so much on Owens then we have to make sure others are getting the ball.

Big time credit to TO. His presence on the field changes how the defense handles all the other players.

I felt sorry for the WR's last nite....yes they did drop passes....especially the sure handed Witten :(

But Bledsoe is going to get them killed.....he waits to damn long....there is not anticipation from Drew....he basically has to see the WR open after the cut before he tries to gun it in there.

Plus....ive never seen a QB throw a worse flat pass.

I agree he was a huge factor and lets face it he just down right scares the heck out of opposing defenses. The problem is Dallas has so 4 other weapons in Glenn, Witten, Fasano and JJ that if you put that much attention into stopping TO they will burn you. Wow when is the last time you could say that about a Cowboy offense?

BS, Bledsoe did not do anything to get his men killed and the comments are worthless. Get off his back!!!

Keeping it a secret is admirable, but letting the trainers know about it may have enabled them to tape it or numb it or something that would have allowed him to play in less pain, but still stay on the field.

The Skins would never need to know.

Did u watch the game?

Bledsoe takes forever to make up his mind.....Both TO and Glen wait after they make their cut for the Ball.....watch the game.....something is going on with Drew this year.....I haven't been impressed by his play so far this year.

With these weapons....I expect more.

Yes I watched the game and I'm sick of hearing whinny ars fans who have a bone to pick with Bledsoe for no reason or reason in your own head. When he plays bad he deserves the heat but he played a good game last night and was on target so get off his case. I'm sick of fans like you boo hooing about every little thing. Go get a clue for a change. Or at least watch other football games so you will at least have a clue.

Understand the point, pep but it was afterall "just" a finger so why not stay in as a "decoy" if need be when he can be the ultimate decoy.

Be different if it was a toe or an ankle cause with a busted wheel it woulda been useless to stay out there.

What?

This is a forum....and I have a opinion....if u dont like it ....get off your high horse and get a life. :)

Do I think Drew played a good game......not a chance....I think he was late in throwing alot of passes....but all this was overshadowed by numerous drop balls.

Drew isnt the same....his passes flutter....and he is late making decisions....if it wasnt for a wide open Glen on a blown coverage....his performance would of been questioned by many here.

BTW....I think u should get a clue on what these forums are for....and I do watch alot of football....its not that hard of a game to grasp :)

I did not say you could not say what you feel but by the same token I said what I feel and that is I get tired of hearing whinny fans who don't know what they heck they are talking about because of some agenda against Bledsoe. No high horse here but you appear to be high on something busting Bledsoe chops over this non-sense your spewing

I have been extremely critical of Bledsoe so far and he had a very good game last night. I figured he'd bounce back. Hopefully he won't go back to laying eggs against Tenn.

I do think that part of the problem is TO. I really think, as some have pointed out on one or two occasions, that he isn't always where he's supposed to be on routes. That assuredly doesn't help a QB.
Nonetheless, we HAVE to find a way to get that guy the ball more.

I disagree with this. Not everyone plays the timing game like Aikman, and Aikman didn't play the same after he lost Irvin.

Bledsoe made a lot of good passes last night. The passes to Owens early in the game were very good. The slants and the pass in the end zone knocked out of his hands were good.

Remember, the strategy of the Commanders was to take away the outside. Those passes on the inside routes (outside of the slants) take longer to develop and force patience. Drew waited and forced the ball very little.

Mash, you got your opinion (this is a forum after all). I just think you're all wet!:p:

You know, TO really disappointed me last night. If he's being tough about the finger fine, but if it's the reason he's dropping passes left and right, he's being detrimental to the team.

Question? Is it just me, or when TO was with the 9ers and Eagles it seemed like he was in "space" more than he has been with us? I know that the other 2 teams run the West coast offense, but does it make that big a difference? It seems like he is getting hit hard every time he has a ball thrown his way. Every time I saw him with the Eagles it just seemed like he had more space to operate?

Agree and give TO lot of credit for sticking in there and whose to say he didn't mention it to somebody but wanted to stay in there just for the exact purpose we all discussing--he occupied 2 defenders which helped other WRs/TEs. And I might add that I'm one of those who didn't want TO here cause of concern he damage our young team.

As for Bledsoe's performance, it did seem to me he still isn't as crisp with his passes as I would have liked and yes I realize there were many dropped passes & his timing with TO has a ways to go. Hopefully we wouldn't see any more of the Bledsoe we saw against the Jags but who knows. Having said all this, hopefully next year there will be a legit QB competition which might be better if Romo won.

BS... his mere presence on the field outweighed any detriment from dropping 2-3 passes.

Owens, ... he said he didn't mention it to the guys until he came off of the field at the end.
