TO Drops and Sleeping Stunt

I was not able to watch the game, until I was able to download it from one of our breathen.

All this "noise" about TO dropping a sure touchdown and the sleeping stunt happened in the 3RD QTR!!!

Drops do happen to all wide receivers....even Irvin had his share. The major flaw that I saw was with the Columbo and Witten to kick the fieldgoal.
That is where the blame should be put. Columbo did not block anybody on that play. Troy Vincent was behind Marshall on the left hand side. Marshall held back...then Vincent came underneath...Columbo rotated the tackling to shore up the line with the DE.

The media and "so called" knowledgable fans need to take a look at that. What we should be screaming about is for the head of the special teams coach. Its not Zimmer, although Anthony Henry did not have a good game. We have lost two games on breakdowns in the line with field goal stances.

Just my two cents.

Bottom line is this....TO like it or not...Is on pace to go over 1,000 yards. that's alot of offensive production. His antics are not great, but he is producing.

I said this in another thread

It's no so much that TO is dropping passes as much as WHEN he is dropping them.

A sure TD and a 4th and 2 come to mind first

I agree! The moment T.O. dropped hte pass I reflected back to his T.D. celebration and thought it to be symbolic of his going to sleep the rest of the game. Since than T.O. has taken the blame and that was admirable becuase he could have instead ranted about how he leads the team in T.D.s to date, even with his injuries. I also find it promising that T.O. has publically stated to have a renewed focus in the second half of the season. This is big becuase his work ethic it top notch. If T.O. can take this thing personally, be more of a leader and produce more on the field, then this team can post an offense that fre defenses will be able to defend - and that can lead to a playoff birth; perhaps even a division title. Ther'es still alot of football to be played.

Over 1000 yards? Big deal! So are 18 other WRs one of whom is named Mike Furrey, who is the #2 WR behind Roy Williams for the Lions. Saints ROOKIE Marques Colston is 142 yards ahead of Terrell Owens. Owens is 14th in the league in yardage right now,is that what we are paying him to be?

My point is that not one of those 18 other WRs is making what we are paying Terrell Owens. 1000 yards is NOT what we are expecting from him for the money we are paying him. 1500 yards and 15 TDs is what most here predicted from him prior to the season and he is a long ways from achieving those numbers.

He dropped a key 4th-and-2 pass against the Giants, he dropped a PERFECT pass against the Commanders, he has dropped other, less critical passes throughout the season. Yes other WRs drop passes too but they don't go around talking about themselves as if they were the greatest WR of all time.

If Owens kept his stupid mouth shut and didn't do ridiculous stuints like "the nap" I wouldn't have as much of a problem with him, but as Jimmy said, "If you're gonna talk the talk, you gotta walk the walk" and Owens hasn't backed up all his talk nor has he lived up to his contract.

Now that "the drop" is being dissected again, I wonder if he dropped the pass because he was preoccupied for a moment thinking about what celebration he was going to do when he got into the endzone.

Sure it is a stretch...but I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be true.

Are you are serious, ... I hope you're not.

That was in the 3rd qtr, and we made 24 yds after that drop. The drop did not stop that drive.

Plus if you have watched our secondary you must realize that with a qtr and a half to go we could give up a deep ball or give them a PI penalty.

Remember the Commanders game in Dallas last year ? 2 late scores on deep passes.

To say that it was ... game over.... period, is a bold statement which I can't agree with.

I agree to a point but it goes back to putting teams away and when your dealing with a team that is 2-5 putting them down by 14 late in the 3rd goes a long way in taking the wind out of their sails.

right, but to say ... over, period ... is crazy Dooms, you have watched enough to know that.

I mean last year we had dominated the Skins for 57 minutes or something.

They had sucked the whole game, and then BOOM , BANG, we lose.

That play would have been huge, and if he had posted we PROBABLY would have won, I could give him that, ... but not ... over, period!

Dang, I wish he would have caught that ball.

I'm serious, they would have been down and out.

You don't have to agree with it. I don't care if you do. That was the game changer, it was the nail in the coffin. Comebacks happen in the NFL every week, obviously I know that, but that drop took 7 off the board. Biggest play of the game whether it had been TG or TO, I believe that was the ball game.

The other errors came about because that play kept it close!

Being there live - I fully support that notion. The Skins fans in that place were on the ropes even though they were only down 7. They sunk down when that pass dropped. It was an entirely different crowd after that, because they had something to cheer about. Not anything their team did - but they LOVED taking shots at TO. Believe me, the drunks to the rear and right found new life, and it wasn't pretty.

I agree, who knows what would have happened? That play may have caused the skins to fold their tents as their fans booed them or they may have bounced back. I will say I like my chances a hell of alot better with a 14 point lead
