How about Red authorise a black helmet sticker #75 in honor of Jethro on the Cowboys' helmets for Sunday's game?

I think that requires NFL approval, but probably doable. I hope they do something somewhere down the road.

“Jethro was an integral player in our Flex defense and did a great job in playing the run and rushing the passer. He had a lot of sacks. He and I did a lot of stunts together and played very well as a pair.

“Jethro was gentle. He wasn’t effusive but he was very bright.’’

And tough. Lilly said Pugh played through a case of appendicitis one season and kept taking shots of penicillin to take the field.

No. 75 became a fixture in the Cowboys' defensive line, playing for 14 seasons, from 1965-78. Only three players had a longer run with the Cowboys than Pugh. The defensive tackle finished with 95.5 sacks for his career and led the team in that statistic for five consecutive seasons (’68-72) before it became an official category.

RIP Jethro. Not bad for a 11th round draft pick, you gave us a great 14 years!

Hope you enjoy the ice bowl 2 game from your new perch.

I'm trying to recall if the Cowboys did a helmet sticker for Don Meredith when he passed in Dec 2010?

I don't think they did, so the likelihood of them doing anything for Jethro is probably slim. And if Red (or Jerry) approved this, how would they decide who gets such an honor in the future?

They didn't do anything for Ron Springs.
