I'm amazed that Roy doesn't get flagged for this more.. he got LJ Smith last week and the denver tight end yesterday. Yeah, the announcers tried to clean it up but it looked like a hoarse collar to me. I just think there's a better way to bring guys down. Where this really bit us in the *** is on Daynes long run in O.T. Keith Davis clearly was going for the collar.. I believe that he could have caught him had he actually tried to run him down and tackle properly (like T. New).. what a lazy attempt. We still may have had a shot but what's done is done.. o.k I'm done venting. :(

The rule was made clear yesterday during the game. If someone grabs the collar and deliberately pulls him backwards to make the tackle, it's a horsecollar. If they just grab it, but don't pull him backwards, instead making a sure tackle, it's not called.

I haven't even seen the penatly called at all this year, as a matter of fact. Has anyone else?

It's football and it's a violent sport.... It's better to make the tackle than to let them possibly score....

I really dont know why you are complaining...it was an incredibly stupid rule to put in in the first place, and I'm glad officials have ignored it all yr...if you think we're the only team that has gotten away with it, you are either blind or just dont watch other football games

Amen.
Not to mention it's pretty much Roy's signature. So powerful he had a rule made for it... that's pretty flippin sweet if you ask me.

I highly doubt that Keith Davis would have chased down Dayne. He had bad angle and is as fast as L.A

O.K. so attack another member of this board who loves the Cowboys just as much as everyone else? Good job! Do you think Keith Davis did a good job TACKLING Ron Dayne in O.T.? Go back and watch the replay if you think he did? I think Roy is a great player and he's one of my favorite Cowboys. I'm sick of the stupid rule and yes I do recognize that it happens all the time in other games it just seems as though Roy has a propensity to use this move moreso than others. If you do it fine.. but if you don't get a good grip on a strong player you will miss, look foolish, and possibly give up a big play. Anyone remember the Giants game where Roy attempted to bring down Shockey and missed giving up a huge play? I don't have a problem with it I just don't like to see players RELYING on this technique.

Roy had jersey when he was pulling the guy down last game. He has to grab inside the pads for it to be a horse collar. I'm pretty sure the only time it's been called this year is during preseason.
