To the people opposed to newman returning punts

Yes I do. After seeing Henry and Glenn go down to injuries this year why put Newman in a position to get hurt more than he would just playing CB?

Yes and with Glenn and Henry hurting I feel even stronger about it. I'd be ok with doing it once or twice a game but no more than that.

I think we are using him correctly.

If the punt is from deep in the opponent's territory, sure.

But he's no Dante Hall -- he's got some other responsibilties that are more important than punt returns.

sad.

enjoy patrick craytons 3 yard returns people.smh
Enjoy Reeves and Nate Jones as our starting cb's if Newman goes down on a punt return.

I think the inability of the offense to do squat makes it a necessity.

If we don't create some short fields for the O then it doesn't matter if the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man is playing CB, we are going to lose 10-0 anyway.

Just do it.

again, when is the last time there was a punt return injury in the nfl?

newman wont take any big hits PERIOD.

and its sad that the way our offense is playing yall dont want us to have the best field position possible.WOW

Jason Sehorn tore up his knee in preseason on a punt return and was never the same.

We got 4 games left why the hell would we not want Newman returning punts?

This isnt exactly the time to play safe....We got PLayoffs on the line.

Put Newman on the other side of every punt point blank.

Henry pulled his groin playing cornerback and has been out for 4 games.

When he comes back, should we just put him in on 3rd downs just in case?

kick return.try again
So you'd be comfortable with Reeves and Jones if in the odd chance it happens even though it has never happened in the history of the nfl?

basically....i cant believe that after that punt he had last game people would still be against it.I DONT CARE THAT WE ARE HURTING AT CB.

the defense will be fine, glenn will be fine.WE NEED GOOD FIELD POSITION

i would be comfortable knowing that we put it all out on the line to get into the playoffs and help this putrid offense.

if the d line gets to the qb it wont matter who the cb is for the MOST part.

If it was OK for Deion Sanders to do it when he was still a total shutdown corner, why is it not ok for T-New?

And again, with the offense playing this badly we are going to lose games no matter what unless we provide some spark and good field position with special teams.

Gotta do it if we are going to have a chance.

i like using him when they are on their side of the 50, but no reason to when they get close to mid field. not likley to get any return and less likley to break one. but anytime the punt will be fielded with a good return chance i have no problem using him. i think bill is using him about right.
