What did you expect?

Did you not look at his resume before he arrived?

Did you not understand that he has a love/hate relationship with coaching?

Did you not hear about his previous jobs, or flirtations with jobs?

Did you not know full-well his well earned reputation for being obstinant and unreasonable at times?

Did you somehow think that would all go away when he signed on in Dallas?

Shame on you. Bill is being everything in Dallas that he was in all his previous stops. Well, maybe not the winner he was at other stops but then much as we wanted to believe this contender building was an exact science, it really isn't. See (Jimmy, Gibbs, Ditka, etc). I'm as disappointed as anyone that we have progressed only to 9-7, but then I'm also buoyed by the youth and apparent talent of many Parcells has added. Yes, he's also had some things blow up on him. All in all, I still think he's top 10 in the league at this point - talent eval & coaching. I wish he was clearly #1. Hard to build that case. Harder still to find that guy and have him do it here.

Not to rail on folks. I understand the disappointment and frustration. But I think Jerry knew full well the entire package he'd be getting when he hired Bill and said - "its worth it." To ignore his well-chronicled faults, believe they wouldn't surface here, would be foolish.

Do we really know what the situation is at Valley Ranch? We never know anything about the inner workings on other issues -- why would we expect to know something here?

BP doesn't talk to the press about certain issues. Period. Jerry said on the sidelines that they would discuss an extension in a few weeks.

Everything else is just crap made up by the press.

coco2...No surprise for me...but at prior stops, he had results that offset all of his drama and game playing...

And it seems to me his bad points have been magnified and the good ones (results) diminished.

He has not done as well here as quickly as he did at the Pats and Jets; but he has done about as well as with the Giants- or close to it. In this age of the cap and FA, its a little harder to do- and he has made progress. We now have a good QB, RB, TE, WR, DL, LBS, CB, and one safety, and a punter. We now have to get that FS, and rebuild the O line. that can be mostly done in one offseason. The O line work will be critical- and we cannot afford any more mistakes. Upon that progress or lack of it will determine how BP's tenure here will be.

Exactly! No one knows anything because Parcells isn't saying anything. He hasn't said anything to Chris Mortenson or to anyone else, all of this is just junk made up by the mediots.

We (everyone in the world outside of he, his family, and Jerry Jones) will know what his decision is when he announces it and not before and there is no timetable that he has to follow for when we need to hear from him. That is between him and Jerry and Jerry doesn't seem to be too upset about things right now so I am not going to worry about it.

:D That's always in the back of my head.

We were his sworn enemy and now he's our Coach?

When he leaves...He'll leave us in ruins...Just to help the Giants out. :D

I wish people understand what has gone on since his arrival. This was a short term answer to a problem that was brought on by years of bad decisions.

Parcells was the best sale job Jerry Jones has done since he bought the team. After 3 straight Campo & Jones coaching this team, something needed to be done to keep the fans coming back. Enter the one man gang Bill Parcells. He then becomes the ticket seller, poster child of Cowboys Football, and Rebuild guru. But he came alone not the same with his other stops. But Bill was never the answer for the football team (x's and o's) but a marketing solution for Jerry Jones.

Bill is just being Bill and the onus is on Jerry. Jerry needs to hold a state of the union address and he needs to look for a long term solution. Bill was never a long term solution. He was what gave Jerry back respectability and help right a ship that was in disarray. The alter ego of Jerry. Jerry was walked all over by his players( the good ones) while Bill didn't put up with their ****. Jerry is sitting back learning from the master how to rebuild. Bill is the balance in the organization that Jerry could not control( media leaks, staff that did their own thing, and players getting into trouble.

Bill is not to blame he did his job now its time to move on. Rebuild and put a decade good team are two different things.

The QB is a good stopgap, but we don't have a longterm answer there.
Our top 2 WR's are in their 30's. They have been fine, but Crayton is the only young quality one we have and I don't think he'll ever be more than a decent #2 at best.

That's 3 of your 4 primary skill position players we need to upgrade with younger guys. And we do have a couple of young RB's who have shown promise, but Jones hasn't been able to stay healthy and show he can do it full time and Barber doesn't appear to be an every down back.

I'd say we need a couple of OL, FS, QB, WR, PK, and another LB.

Still plenty of work to do.

sure, but we also had the FIRE AND WIN DAMN IT bp in mind. not the one we've seen the last 2 years looking lost in PC's and hit / miss on the field.

if his success on the field matched his past performance, you'd see people living with his faults. since his success is LESS than what you've seen in the past, the flaws become targets like they do for anyone.

flaws are fine when you're winning. obstacles when you're not.

that simple.

I agree.
I think several years way too late Jerry finally realized that his way - him being GM with puppet coaches wasn't working. He thought he had learned all he needed from Jimmy and he could do it on his own. But he failed miserably.

Enter BP. Jerry finally realized he needed a real football man to try to turn things around, plus generate interest in the team again. Everyone knew BP was a short termer, 4 years or less. So the bus driver at QB mentality isn't surprising because that's the only reasonable shot he had at trying to get in the playoffs. He's not going to spend a year or two of his short amount of time here trying to develop a QB, or for that matter spend a valuable resource like a high draft pick on acquiring one when it won't pay dividends immediately.

But now his time is about up. Maybe 1 more year, 2 at max. We should have a solid defense in place and hopefully can begin to shore up the OL this offseason. But the QB situation will be the same when he leaves as it was 5 years ago when Aikman first left, still searching.

I just fear that once BP is gone, Jerry will once again feel that he's learned what he needs to know and will take over like he did before instead of letting a real football man lead.

You can substitute "Larry Brown" for "Bill Parcells", "Detroit Pistons" for "Dallas Cowboys", and ask yourself...how is Flip Saunders doing for the Pistons, and is it possible somebody can do the same thing in Dallas next season...whatever answer you come up with, you should at least ask the question.

See I dont get this. How has the man not brought success here? Forget records for a minute and look ahead. He has hit way more than hes missed with talent, he has us in good cap space and he put Jones up in his comfy box instead of coaching the team. The only player making the police report these days is Mikey, the old cowboy. Unless you include a p behind a dumpster. :D
We got blown out of ONE game, one. Hell that was the norm just a few years ago.

So the guy hates the press, big deal.
He doesnt have to answer to the fans.

I think we are better off than we have been and also headed in the right direction. havnt been able to say that in years.

Not to mention it was one exciting season and we could beat any one on any given Sunday.

in his past, success was defined by playoffs, not by "well, we're better than before..."
