Terrell Owens was the first target in SMU officials' 11th-hour scramble to replace Pat Summitt. Word is that Owens was considering the offer, which was pitched as a terrific way to do some locally based image repair. But an issue soon scuttled the plan.

Turns out Owens has signed up to make an appearance on Oprah soon. And the Oprah empire has a sort of "no-compete" clause that prohibits other interviews within an undisclosed period surrounding the guest's appearance on the show.

The last Oprah Winfrey interview I saw was her exclusive with Dave Chapelle and it was crap. I walked away from the TV even more clueless as to why he dropped his third season. You want to see an interview that really gets into what kind of person Chapelle is and his reasons for quitting the show, then check out his two hour stint on Inside the Actors Studio. Anyways, ignoring my Chapelle rant, I hope it's not the same with TO and Oprah. I wonder if she even follows football. I'm sure she has a well paid crack staff that will give her the appropriate questions, but I hope we get new revelations that put some of the TO worries to rest.
