To Turn the Corner

Trust me I have my doubts this team can turn the corner this year, however it is something that can happen. There are things in this Ravens game to build on, and if they can build on those positives and have a few other things occur this team can at least play in some meaningful games at the end of the year. I am not giving up yet, there is a lot of ball left and instead of crying about how nothing will ever change and this team sucks, and everyone should be canned. here is what I would like to see.

1st - this defense has to start getting some turnovers. It just has not been happening and hopefully they start coming in bunches. I do think we start getting a few.

2nd - Just run the dang play. We look so much more effecient when we just get up there, snap the ball and run the play. The O-Line does not have the pre snap penalties, they get off the ball quick, and everyone knows what to do, obviously there are times audibles will be required, but call them quick, let everyone get set and snap the ball.

3rd - You can argue the main culprit in 2 losses was a TD against our special teams againt Baltimore and Seattle. THIS CAN NOT HAPPEN AGAIN, no more, and hopefully we can get 1 or 2.

4th - Get and Stay Healthy. While not an excuse the health of this team has been an issue and hurt this team in situations and 2 of the favorite beating boys Costa and Spencer have shown their worth while sitting out hurt. We really need Spencer back who was playing very well before the injury. But this team can not keep sustaining the injuries we are having.

5th - Ware - I love Ware, but we need him showing up and effecting the game throughout. Spencer coming back will help this, but we need Ware to be a dominant player.

6th - Run more 2 TE sets, get Phillips on the field more and let him help Free and get out in some routes. Phillips plays smart solid ball, makes us more physical, and gets Ogletree off the field. When we need 3 or 4 WR sets lets see Beasley on the field. I have a feeling about this little guy, I think he will play smart and make plays. If not Beasley then Harris.

7th - It is ok to play for the FG sometimes. Garrett obviously does not like 52 plus yard FG's, many times we are sitting at that point around the 35 yardline with a 3rd and long, instead of getting greedy in these situations run a draw or quick pitch, get 5 or 6 and kick the FG vs. trying to get the whole thing and punting.

8th- We are going to have to beat the Giants. To make the playoffs it is looking like we will have to win the division. I have a feeling if we have any shot at the end of the year we will need that tie breaker, and obviously a 2 game swing if we beat them.

Obviously more has to happen then just this and all the doom and gloomers, cant say I blame you as I have had my moments too, will give every reason why it will never happen and how "insert here" will ruin it, and tear this thread apart, but I am not giving up yet. :starspin

I agree with a lot of your post, but realistically, I don't think Spencer being out was a factor at all in the game, but that's just my opinion.

As far as two tight end sets ... we ran it a lot yesterday with great success. However, I don't think we can use a two tight end set on every play. :)

Good post.

Things can be turned around. Garrett has to get his crap together. Bottom line.

Fix the pre-snap penalites. Fix the game management. Fix the special teams issues.

And please stop running the game clock to the end before very play. Have Romo chill with the audibles. Stop all the moving around. You are not confusing the other team, you are confusing your own team. Call the play, line up, and play football.

This team would be 4-1 and not 2-3 if Garrett and the staff would have their stuff in order.

Excellent points but I think we are all a little guilty of underestimating Spencer. I think he would have made a difference.

Anything is possible, but some of the problems that you list as needing fixed have been around for years. I don't see them being fixed anytime soon. I think this is the reason for such a dim outlook from the fanbase. Same problems, different year, no solutions.

I never give up , but I've seen this post almost every season for the last 15 years. Usually it's a bit later though. Right now, I'm simply hoping for a win in Carolina.

good post and unfortunately that is all we have to cling to becasue we have a high school HC learning on ther job

by the way, garrett did not settle on the FG distance because 'he thought it was within range' but becasue he have messed up the plan and there was no option left

that is all on him
