Today’s mock draft from PFN

  • 24. Jermaine Johnson ED Florida State
  • 56. Chad Muma LB Wyoming
  • 88. Quay Walker LB Georgia
  • 128. Calvin Austin III WR Memphis
  • 167. Jamaree Salyer OG Georgia
  • 176. Bubba Bolden S Miami FL
  • 201. Dylan Parham OG Memphis
I like a few selections, but not 2 day 2 linebackers and taking a Guard so late.

Yeah, you and I differ on the need at guard.

Who are your starting OGs next year? Martin and ?

I tend to agree with the other poster - 2nd and 3rd round on LBs seems like overkill.

I’m sliding Collins over there for starters. Then I’m looking at cheap free agent reclamation projects like Will Hernandez.

But I’m NOT about to dump another premium draft pick into the offensive line unless Linderbaum somehow drops.

If your line needs 1st rounders all over to function, you’re doing it wrong.

Oh I have no issue with the top pick and agree that if yuo have to keep throwing 1st rounders at the OL, you have a problem. That being said, I also don't think we need to use two premium picks on LBs either.

The cupboard is pretty bare at LB so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us double dip (though it obviously doesn't have to be with 2 premium picks). I don't love Muma at 56 but he got great value on Quay Walker at 88. And he managed to address OG quite adequately later in the draft.

Thats fair.

My thinking is that the linebacker corps has had significant turnover in a short period of time. And right now I see Parsons and a promising rookie coming off of a major injury. And that’s it.

Yeah. Those two talents being there late bailed me out. (And they also won’t be there in a real draft). ;)

I couldn't agree more, we have more draft assets allocated to our O-line then anyone in the league. Every playoff team has at least 2 UFA's or an UFA with a late round pick starting on their o-line.

I always love these mocks simulators.

We'd be getting 2nd and 3rd round talent guard (Salyer and Parham) in the 5th and 6th!

we did get Jabril Cox in the 4th…so possible…likely…maybe not

Austin is supposed to be one of the fastest players in the draft and he’s like a 170lb wr, what are they going to do with that?

I think when you look around the league, finding some depth at LB on the cheap in FA isn't that hard. I'd rather use premium picks (which I consider Top 90) on guys that can potentially make immediate impacts. It's unlikely that both those LBs would see significant time in this defense.

PS - stash, I am with you on Collins to LG. If they leave him at RT, fine. Maybe how FA and the draft shakes out dictates what happens. For example, if you end up with a Zion Johnson in the 2nd or Green in the first, then there is your LG and Collins stays outside.
