1. OK everyone says "Let's put Carpenter on practice squad."
Bull sss. He's way beyond that. I've searched rules and don't know how in the world he's eligible for the practice squad, even last season at Tampa Bay how they got him on their practice squad. He had a full year as their 3rd QB, which is an "accrued season," two years ago in 2010. If you have an accrued season according to the union, you aren't eligible for the practice squad any time after that. He was active all year for them that season. I'm confused. But for sure he's not eligible for our PS at this point.
Carpenter is pretty good and intuitive and has nice touch on the ball but he can't throw it very hard so the seven-step out so it's kind of a moot point. DBs will cheat when they know the QB doesn't have a gun, that hurts your offensive strategy when your WRs can't run the timing "out route" very well because your QB can't zing it. This I learned when I was eight years old and probably you did too. Otherwise Carpenter might be a pretty functional NFL QB. Pardon me explaining this stuff - which is apparent to everybody here who has watched games. I write this for the young folks and anyone else who didn't see him play in '09 for the Boys in preseason.
2. It's going to be all Olawale, some Wesley, some Javarris Williams at RB that's all. Pretty boring.
3. JG won't let Tony or Kyle much mess around back there when our OL is so suspect. So I don't expect to see huge games from our rookie WRs. Some quick drops and maybe lots of passes to Cole Beasley.
4. Defense: another story! .. Big-time opportunity for all the guys on that side of the ball. Nothing will be held back. Want to see Crawford.
5. Caleb McSurdy isn't even "dirty" anymore. I haven't read when he's hit anybody in camp. Come on Monday night, Caleb!
Sorry if the stuff above is apparent to everyone. Had to say it after xx beers tonight.
