Haley will be named HC of the Chiefs in the next few days.

thats been a foregone conclusion since pioli got there.

I am curious if they will bring in another young coach haley has worked with like Todd Bowles to run the defense.

I think Haley is overrated. He's the flavor of the month because his offense has done some very good things this year. But that offense consisted of the best wr core in the game and a damn fine qb. They should have been good.

Isn't this the guy who was leaking things to the press about TO while he was here? You really want that type of guy to be your head coach?

I predict painful mediocrity wherever he goes to be a HC. I'm not impressed.

I love how he had to go when he was here because he sold TO out. Now people think he is the answer to our problems.

Johnny come lately, there's a new kid in town...

Yep...

Of course, like with any awful team, just draft decently for a couple of years and you'll look like a genius simply for getting out of the cellar. So prepare for plenty more posts about how we (Jerry) screwed up again.

wasnt haleys contract up in 06?

Did he sell TO out? Or was owens lazy and uninterested in doing the same things every other player was required to do?

at some point when you have someone not playing by the same rules he needs to be called on it.

and Todd Haley had the guts to stand up to him and call him out.

Maybe it was owens who sold out his teammates by not working as hard as them and not being the professional m-s he was payed to be.

Howcome jerry and campo couldnt do this? How many more years did they need to get it right?

How come carl peterson and herm edwards couldnt get it right?

This argument holds no water with me personally. This belittling of turnarounds makes no sense.

Good coaches and good front offices get good results.

.

???????????

Since when does leaking private information to a reporter and being an "unnamed source" all of a sudden become "had the guts to stand up to him"?

You remember the clip of TO berating him on the sideline and he sat there like a schoolboy in the prinicples office??

Some guts.

Both Fitz and Boldin were there before Haley was. So was Edge. Kurt Warner was brought in as a 2nd string qb.

Was haley there when they drafted Leinart? Solid drafting.

A better question is why would Jerry Jones.

Haley never striked me as someone he liked very much. He came down on him pretty hard in 2006 after he was supposedly the one who leaked to the media that Owens was late for practices and falling asleep. He even threatened to fine him IIRC.

I read that he would like draw on his contacts from when he was with the Jets or Bears, not people from the Cowboys (who are all in Miami and under contract).

Haley did sell Owens out in that he was the one who reported abou thim being late to some meetings due to sickness, etc. He got chewed on by Jerry for it. He felt pretty bad about it too.

Because Campo is horrible and we were in salary cap hell at the time. Although I bag on Campo all the time, the truth is that no coach would've won much from 2000-2002 because we had no cap room and no draft picks to improve our sorry roster.

And Herm is awful. He's proved that time and time again.

I'm not saying anyone can turn around a team, just that when you follow someone who is truly incompetent, even mediocrity looks great.

Is it selling him out if it was the only way to get through to him?

and again who is selling who out, haley for calling him on his poor habits or owens for having them and being late and sleeping in meetings?

and Yes I remember jerrys academy award performance about whoever was the rat he was going to find out and get rid of him.

it was all an act. Jerry is not stupid. He knows owens sleeps in meetings and is late because he is a diva. Jerry was just keeping everyone happy by giving owens the reaction he wanted and I am sure behind close doors he said something to haley about not going public with it.

ahh thanks. I didnt see that.

Gary gibbs was another name I thought might have fit with him. Parcells was high on him and he is unemployed still I believe.

not that pioli give a darn what parcells thought, but I am sure some of the parameters are the same.

The team felt Haley sold Owens out. He was a man about it and he did feel badly for how it came down.

You know I am no Owens fan, so this is not me sticking up for him.

Yep I know. I am not responding to this because I am trying to beat you down wit it. Just simply saying what I said back then.

I also know that at some point push comes to shove. When you operate in a certain manner and your coaches all coach in a certain manner having a guy showing up late and then sleeping through meetings all the time must make you mental.

and I understand, from what I remember haley was apologetic only because he did something that flies in the face of what that staff did, call people out in the media. Only the head coach made comments like that.

And the big issue was owens having diarhea and then being late, which is an excuse and excuses should not be tolerated, especially from the guy who always seemingly has them.

and as laufenberg always repeats

5 minutes early is on time.
On time is late.
Late is unacceptable.

In his book Once a Cowboy, Walt Garrison talks about how fanatical Landry was about being on time to meetings. He even told a player that he should have had a contingency in place in case he had a flat tire or broke down.

One time I heard a story about Baseball Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew speaking to a bunch of young people. Someone asked him about the biggest fine he ever had to pay. He said he had never had to pay a fine. The church lader sponsoring the event felt like the kids didn't grasp the significance of that so he jumped up beside Killebrew and asked him what time players had to arrive for a 7:00 PM game. He told him, 4:30. So he asked what time he would show up. Killebrew said 2 o'clock.

It's about being professional.
