Todd McShay: 2027 class could be epic

Carolina. Indianapolis, and New Orleans says hi. Going to be tough to get below them.
That's why having the two extra first-round picks is important. Dallas has to hope a team that doesn't need a QB ends up with the first overall pick. It may cost them four firsts to get there, depending on where they end up in the draft. Of course, Manning likely won't be the only QB to go at the top of the draft.

That just isn't realistic. Teams don't do that. Name the last time a team that just drafted a quarterback No. 1 overall turned around and drafted another one No. 1 overall.
For most players, you would be right, but Arch is a "Manning" and that changes things.

If Cam Ward has an average or below average season, the Titans would be idiots to pass on Manning (again, assuming he lives up to the hype).

Worst case, they keep both one year and let them battle it out trading the one who doesn't win.

Best case, they get Manning and get multiple high round picks for Ward.

Of course everyone has a price. If a team makes a good enough offer, of course a team would trade a player with "potential-but-no-proof-yet".

I just don't think you do it for the normal "point" trading system the draft normally uses.

That said, I would expect Arch to stay in college until he graduates like his uncles did, especially since the NIL money will be coming in.

There are at least 5 potential franchise quarterbacks coming up in the next two drafts besides Manning. With our schedule we probably won’t need to trade up for one.

I expect us to still finish around middle of the pack, so I believe we'll have to trade up if we want one. And I believe we should want one no matter how Dak plays. He's in his mid-30s and has had two season-ending injuries. The writing is on the wall, and now we have put ourselves in position to do something about it.

Let's get pumped about what will end up being a near 2nd round pick 2 years from now!

Agreed. I think with our schedule and the Packers schedule we could have a top 5 pick and a top 20 pick.

Someone brought this up in another thread. If Burrow gets sick and tired of the Bengals the Cowboys have the ammo to trade for him. In two seasons this Cowboys team could be quite different.
