Tolbert makes the list

It was 100% on the coaches. They knew he wasn't ready for the entire playbook coming from a small school but they shoved it in his face and told him to learn everything. He was so lost he couldn't even to the basic stuff. 2nd year he had to be deprogrammed and reprogrammed and started looking better. Last year was a big leap.
Coaches have to know the player to maximize their ability. Plain and simple.

Sound familiar to asking Mazi to lose 30 pounds to get quicker.

Maybe Jalen Tolbert would have taken a leap forward this year as a 2, but I like him much better as a 3. I think he ends up delivering similar numbers to last year.

He’s this Cowboys version of Beasley or Cobb . Dude had more TD’s then Pickens last year with the back up gunslinger throwing to him

I get it. Yes he does get unwarranted hate. Yes he's gotten better every year in the league......

But the problem is he was so bad year 1....it was only up from there....and honestly he was so bad year 1 that he could've been cut and no one would've cared. So to deal with him for 3 years......this is not the guy I thought we were getting. Now it's time to get paid, and we still have no idea how good he is.
That's one reason it would be better for Turpin to take the lead on the No. 3 job. We just put him under contract for three seasons for a reasonable total of $13.5 million, especially if he contributes on offense.

Forget knowing the entire playbook, Tolbert couldn't even line up his rookie year. That's not Mike McCarthy's fault.

And they said Jalen Brooks knew all three positions by the time camp was over. Same coach.
If a coach can't get his players ready, the player or the coach has to go.....worked out for the player, this time.

Yeah there were some bigger issues that he’s put behind him now but yeah that wasn’t on Mike.

Yeah I wouldn’t hate that….
I really feel like he could be that pesky guy to take advantage of all the attention Lamb and Pickens will get. The only question is how much will No-Schott be willing to use him because of his size and his value as a returner. I'd like to see him get the lion's share of snaps when we go three-wide.

With the new kick-off rule changes, Turpin will be even more valuable on the kick return team. I am fine with him playing a handful of plays on offense as a decoy to stretch the field or a designed play for him in space.

However he is too valuable to risk an injury on offense for anything more than that.

With Turpin and Aubrey's leg, we could easily be in FG range after the kickoff. Someone who can consistently flip the field, is a more valuable than most people understand.

If only the coaches hadn't screwed him up. Once again, McCarthy and player mismanagement rears it's ugly head. At least he has shown good progress.
I think they can still chew gum and walk. The top 3 receivers should be the normal set up against all opponents.

Just line them all up and let the best players play. If it's Tolbert than so be it. If not then play the guy who beat him out. I have no personal feeling about Tolbert at all, but I think he has looked like a dime a dozen talent so far. Give the other guys a chance to play and see if they can do better.

If you have a toy, you use it. Can't play scared. The man rode being a WR all the way to MVP of that UFL or whatever it was. This is not like putting Parsons at RB, Turpin's done the WR thing and produced. Find ways to get him out there on offense and get him the ball.

Pretty sure the addition of Pickens, will prevent him from getting any significant time at WR.

Not very many 5'9, 152 pound WR's in the NFL for a reason.

Tolbert was often covered by safeties and even lbs. We had to scheme him open, even in the redzone. Tell me one play you saw from him that he made happen. The guy cannot separate...period. If he's open, he will catch the ball. Most of our receivers will do that. I didn't see him getting open; I didn't see him making contested catches over defenders with brute force or athletic ability; I didn't see him turn any short catches into big plays with YAC; I didn't see him block worth a darn either. He is the very definition of JAG! He played better when Cooks returned and he was the #3 guy only because we ran plays for him and schemed him open. At the end of this year, if he hasn't played like a beast, he will leave in free agency, and we will be lucky to get a 7th round pick for him.
