Romo won't do the same because Jerry has made it clear he puts Romo's protection at a lower level of importance than say... tightend.

Won't he? It's like some of you guys just sit around looking for things that could go wrong with the Cowboys.

his wife makes WAY more than him.....how about $45M last year alone.

This.

Real easy to take less when your wife makes double.

There have been some jokes about it, but Romo really should negotiate into his contract some guarantees about improving the OLine.

If I'm Romo, I don't give a squat what TB did, I would take maximum. When Romo turns 37,then he can take a pay cut. These professional sports are a one time deal, you make as much as possible to ensure your future.

It's not up to the player to make the team around him better, it's up to the SMART management, or lack there of.

And trust me, I'm the least Romo supporter on the planet.

Not that easy when ego, agents and unions are involved and that is why you rarely see it happen.

This isn't much of a discount at all.

He is spreading his money out to lessen his cap hit

Essentially a 5 year 60 million dollar deal with all of it guaranteed. All 60 million.

Brees deal also had 60 million guarareed.

Still elite money for brady

I think Romo will probably want a bigger deal from Dallas because we don't plan to fail enough, or something.

I really do think he believes they will try.

But as we've learned, there has been a huge disconnect from their version of trying and actual success.

They are just way overestimating or misjudging talent.

I'm sure last year they thought:
  • Moving a LT (Free) to RT should work fine (disaster)
  • Smith would be very good at LT, and evenutally a Pro Bowler (maybe)
  • Costa would be the center (he was hurt)
  • paid two new FAs for our Guards in Livings and Berny...(not good either)
They probably think they DID try to fix the line. They just failed.

Truthfully I thought Free would have worked out at RT, given the sample size from 2009. Highly disappointing.

I don't see how it possibly would not come up. The QB's opinion is always going to have *some* weight in terms of offensive personnel. When you need that QB to extend to give you cap room, it's going to weigh even heavier.

By the same token, I wouldn't be shocked to hear that Romo thinks one or two teaks to the OL are important, but that he'd rather have the speed WR, backup RB, and the TE. It's an obvious question for him to be asked the next time he's in front of a mic.

I know he want's lineman.
My wife knows his family better than I do, but supposedly it is a very, very hot topic at home. Huge sore point. lol His wife does not want their to grow up with a father who can barely move.
I better stop now...

I've wondered if maybe Romo will hold firm on some crazy number the Cowboys won't give him to force the team into a trade (in regards to demanding a better oline).

I doubt it, but you never know.
I know he's taken as much or more of a severe beating than any QB over the last 3-4 seasons. Lots of broken stuff to show for it too, and a whole lot of abuse from the haters nevertheless.

But he likes Dallas and his wife and inlaws are from here. If you have many millions, location is not quite as big of a deal. But he has ties here now and lots of friends...and his biggest dream is to help get the Boys another ring.

In the end, I bet he takes slightly below market instead of asking for > market.

yes....he gave up his 2 years with $44M to convert it to a more cap friendly deal that guaranteed his whole extension.....so, smart for the team to get a cap friendly number and smart for Brady to ensure that he sees every year of the deal......and i would call a 5 yr / $60 deal as a bargain for the best QB in football.

Assuming this gets done, I'm still predicting 5 years $80+ mil (not sure on guaranteed). That would put him at just above Schaub and well below what Flacco will get. Seems fair to both parties to me.

GISELE-TOM-BRADY-HOUSE3.jpg

This is where Tom Brady lives. Sorry, Romo may be wealthy but he is nowhere near Tom Brady's level of wealth. Can't blame Brady for taking less, can't blame Romo for wanting more.

Brady is estimated to have a net worth of $100 million. His wife Gisele (smokin) is estimated to have a net worth of $250 million.
