Tom Brady's First Broadcast - An Interview

Brady is fine, but his voice isn’t great for it.

So far Romo is probably the best announcer out of the players from the 2000s and 2010s to move into the booth.

I thought he sounded rather snarky and arrogant. Oh well, to each his own!!!!

He had some interesting thoughts on coaches attitudes on players trying to get the best out of players . He should know after 7 SB wins. It’s one game too early to judge . He is a breath of fresh air a new voice .

Brady definitely not worth the big money Fox is paying him. Big mistake. Boring, slow and a lot of his commentary bled onto the next play delaying Burkhardt’s time. Some may get better but some is his colorless personality.

Felt like a highly (football) intelligent player watching the game. There were times where he was calling out the open receiver as it was happening, and his subtle disgust when the pass was missed. Really down to earth. Incredibly knowledgeable. Had some moments where you could tell he was uncomfortable, and forcing something out bc he wasn't sure what to say.

It was his first live broadcast and I really enjoyed hearing his perspective and getting into his mind as he was calling the game. With his work ethic and refusal to fail, I think he will be a great as he wants to be in the booth, even if it takes some time.
I think so too. It's gonna take some time.

I was just happy to learn that Brady isn't good at absolutely everything.

He did seem to run out of material early. Was watching with my sons, and we were all hoping for more of the "inside the head of the QB" insights that Romo has a knack for expressing so enthusiastically.

He was bad IMO. I wonder if all the stipulations by the league on him hindered his ability to just say what he’s thinking.

At one point, I wondered, “Has he always been this nasally?” He seemed dry and uncomfortable at first. He did much better after halftime, I’d say. Needs more reps, lol.

I noticed he didn’t seem like a Cowboy hater, at least.

He will need reps, exactly. I'm Chief of Comms for my company and do things like run webinars, do podcasts, pretty much talk for a living. Unless you're just a natural camera ham you have to work into it. He's got to lower his register just a bit and inject some charisma, a bit of humor and just get at ease and conversational. Stiffness was his biggest issue before halftime and he eased it out a bit in the 2nd.

I mean, he could always do what Aikman and Buck do and have some Tequila handy. That tends to help. Not that I'd know from my work..

He was really good but i am surprised he is so conservative and wants to punt a lot.

Just like you can’t grade a rookie in game one, unfair to grade Brady at this point too.

Whitten was tongue tied and Emmitts bugaboo was diction, but I digress.

Tom just has to keep flashing his SB rings and his pearly whites and he'll win over alot of people. He should get a honeymoon period but I bet he won't.

Don't be surprised if most of the criticism comes from his colleagues in the media.
Of course it will because they are jealous that he got a bigger salary. However I would give him about a month or two to find his voice. Romo at his best, which he seems to have lost, was telling you what everything meant and was sounding like a coach you could understand and it was funny to watch him predict the trick plays in real time. With his mind Brady could certainly do that but he needs to be willing to speak and not be worried about getting a text from a player who is mad about what he said.

If I had Watson as my QB I would consider a punt my best offensive play. Similarly if I am playing against Watson why not let their offense have the ball and mess it up again?
