Tom Rafferty RIP

R.I.P. Tom Rafferty.

Tom was part of the "Irish Connection", the nickname given to a very underrated but good offensive line that also included John Fitzgerald and Pat Donovan. All three were 4th round draft picks.

Offensive line coach Jim Myers, former Texas A&M HC, was one heck of a coach.

Others on that offensive line included Herbert Scott, a 13th round draft pick, and Jim Cooper, a 6th round pick. This was an offensive line that went to five NFC championship games and two Super Bowls.

All of my guys on the great teams of the late 60's through the early 80's are going away.

The Cowboys drafted Rafferty in the fourth round in 1976, and he spent his entire 14-year career in Dallas. He played with Roger Staubach and Troy Aikman.
Dang I hate hearing this news. Another legend gone. I'm glad his suffering is over. I remember when he was drafted and watching him play his entire career. He played for Joe Paterno at Penn St and Tom Landry in Dallas.

Here is a video you can watch him in action. #64 Tom Rafferty.

Wow, this stinks. Windsor is a small community up in Colorado. My daughter lives there and loves it. Kinda expensive though. RIP Tom.

Played with Staubach,White,Aikman for a season, and the other QBs in between like Hogeboom,Pelluer. The guy was the picture of consistency and longevity. Everything you want from a player, and person. I had no idea actually that he was still around when Troy was here. Guess they were phasing him out.

I became a Head Football Coach on a Tuesday night in early February 2004. That Thursday. I get a call from the front office....they told me, there was a salesman there to see me, they walked him to my office and it was Tom Rafferty. He was selling athletic equipment. Very cool, down to earth. I wanted to talk footfall and he wanted to talk equipment. Lol...
Rest in Peace, Tom.
