HOUSTON - Tom Savage did not return to Houston’s game against the San Francisco 49ers because of a concussion.

Savage was injured when he was driven to the ground on a hit by Elvis Dumervil with about nine minutes left in the second quarter. Replays showed Savage looking dazed after his head hit the ground with both of his arms lifted upward shaking.

How was Tom Savage (@TomSavage03) allowed to return to this game? #SFvsHOU #NFL pic.twitter.com/oOZgRqoLFU

He was taken to the medical tent where he stayed for less than three minutes before returning to the bench and going back in for the next series. He threw two incompletions on that drive, and Houston’s team doctor approached him after he returned to the sideline after that possession.

Looks like he had a seizure and was playing again 5 minutes after

The NFL can't even get it right with instant replay sometimes. NFL is turning into a joke. Refs are idiots and seemingly corrupt at times. Only an idiot would extend Goodell at $40M/yr when he has 18 months left on his contract. Punishing players with little evidence.

No surprise that their concussion procedure is hit or miss. Did the NFL put up sideline tents to protect the players' privacy or to shield the NFL from the public and perhaps any lawyers who may be watching? I think it is the latter.

This kind of thing is going to to be the end of the NFL as we know it.

It might be 20 years, but the NFL has become its irreversible decline.

I don't know if the guy had a seizure or not.
However he was knocked the heck out.
I am sure many of you have seen that in boxing or MMA when body parts just go stiff, like his arms did.
Some call it "The Fencing Response"
It happens in multiple sports.

Either way, when that happens on the field, there is no way a teams medical staff should let the player back into the game...even if they do pass a field sobriety test..>I mean concussion protocol test in a tent on the sidelines of a game when a Player is BEGGING to go back into the game.

Wait for the Players strike.

Yeah, this is terrible.

Obviously, the coach didn't have the benefit of seeing the seizure, but I'm not sure how much that matters, honestly.

It is hard to believe he was allowed out there with independent "doctors" on the sidelines making the calls.

I saw Vike’s QB Tommy Kramer do that back in the early 80s when he was driven into the ground headfirst by a Raider DLman. It was scary to see. He raised his hands/arms outward even with his chest and began shaking violently for a few seconds. Then we seemed to wake up and after some time on the ground, he got up and walked off the field. Can’t remember how much time he missed, but I agree-this injury and those like Ryan Shazier’s could prematurely end the NFL as we know it.
