Tommie Harris released by Bears

He's from my hometown and I like him personally but as a player he stays hurt too much. I'd pass unless he is a bargain to get.

Heh. He went to my high school and graduated in the same class as I. But I don't think there's a place for him in Dallas mostly because of what Hos pointed out.

absolutely doesnt fit a 3-4 scheme, at any DL position

he's basically looked washed up for several seasons.

He's a 4-3 two technique DT. Nice player but doesn't fit.

We can just feed him cheeseburgers all season and then make him a nosetackle, everybody knows we need a fat guy in there!

sign him up, along with any other unwanted players BECAUSE they are always ebtter than what Dallas has. Next up Grossman for Romo, details at 10.

Thank god for the offseason.

wow the bears are dumb for letting him go, now everyone will shift their focus to peppers and again they are left with no pass rush

At 6-3, 295lbs he has the size of a typical 3-4 DE. If people were expecting to see him duplicate his 8 sack season they'd be disappointed.

I'm not saying we should go out and break the bank for the guy, but if he was unemployed long enough he might be willing to play for the home town discount.

Cory Redding was another pass rushing DT with a similar body type (yes I know he played DE for a few years too) who played the large majority of his career in various 4-3 schemes and made a pretty successful transition this past year in Baltimore as a 3-4 DE. It would make sense is we keep Ratliff inside and don't retain Spears. Makes even more sense if we cut Olshansky.

So you graduated an Eagle huh?? Kangaroos all day everyday!!!!!!! Funny thing is I live right by the highschool and I hate seeing those colors everyday. Lol. Your right about there not being a place for him. If we ran the 4-3 maybe.

yeah i was suprised everyone thinks he couldnt play 3-4 DE... maybe hes a change of scenery kind of guy. .Hes only 27... I am concerned with injuries however... who knows. alot of players getting released.

Harris was benched last year and wasn't even activated for some games. He's been horrible for about 3 years running. Something tells me opposing offenses weren't that concerned with him.

Harris was due a $2.5 million roster bonus before training camp and a $2.312 million base salary in 2011. Because of several accounting moves, his salary-cap number would have been $11.115 million, an unmanageable figure assuming the NFL reverts to a cap system under its new collective bargaining agreement (CBA).

He says he's healthy but lost his starting job to a backup last year.
