It should be very interesting. First thing is that MMQB will be there doing their training camp report. Lots of things to talk about, with Dak's week, the competition between the WRs and DBs, the injuries on defense and of course the Hall of Fame nomination for Jerruh. No shortage of topics.

Couple things that I have been thinking about. We have heard that the defensive backs are much more competitive this year, and I am happy to hear that, but it seems on so many of the vines and clips being posted that the corners are getting roasted. It also seems like most of the times that they show a DB winning, it looks like a heck of a lot of contact. Obviously against the Rams we didn't see the defense really pressing on the corners, we were playing a lot of zone. The only CB that really made plays on the ball was Olatoye. Does anyone think we will see them try to put a little more pressure on the receivers this week against the Dolphins?

The Claiborne dive into Dez's legs could have been catastrophic. Thankfully Dez' surgically repaired foot made it through ok but I can only imagine the backlash if he was hurt. Some say Claiborne fell but either way it looked really bad. It seems like sometimes the defense gets carried away....which I like them all to be physical, but if we are running a no tackling practice....it pisses me off to see a defender randomly tee off on a guy. They do it to the running backs a lot. Jackson got popped several times today and of course we all saw the defense "welcoming" Elliott the first couple days. I think you have to either go full hit or no taking to the ground and be consistent with it. None of these random shots.

Saw someone mention after Irving hobbled off that we might only have 5 linemen available for Friday night. Don't we have Mayowa, McAdoo, Jenkins, Russell, Lawrence on the outside and McClain, Crawford x2, Thornton, Coe, Okoye and Collins inside? Isn't everyone back? I could see Mayowa not playing since it is his first week back, maybe the same for Collins. Tapper and Irving out with injuries. Are they going to baby the rest of the vets?

RB and TE battles should heat up. Finally saw Escobar get a catch today, but with Hanna likely out a while he and Swaim need to step up and show something both as pass catchers and blockers. Traylor and Rico will have a chance to get noticed. No McFadden and no Elliott again, so Morris and Jackson are going to get a lot of work again. Maybe the FB's get a few touches. Rod Smith v Keith Smith to determine if we keep a FB at all. With Hanna's injury it probably makes it easier to keep a FB.

Hoping to see a better showing from backup OL. None of them really showed much against the Rams. Looney was meh at C and Leary didn't look like he wanted to be be in there. Green's problems in the second half need to go away....has to do a better job on technique when he is tired.

If Andy Jones is going to put up a fight for 5th WR spot or force team to keep 6, he has to do it starting this week. He was on fire the early part of camp and can't afford another bad outing. I don't think he has a chance honestly, the top 3 are set, Whitehead is our top returner so has a spot and Butler seems to have Romo's trust more than Street or Jones do.

More Mayle and Butler please. We only got a taste.

Want to see Jones, Swaim and Green redeem themselves. I think they will.

Want to see Dak, Whitehead, Nzeocha, Olatoye and Jenkins continue to build on their successes. Would like to see Thornton, Hitchens and Jack make some plays, they've been close.

TCraw, Oscan, Mayowa, Lee, Tapper, Collins and McClain just need to get on the field again.

Showers, Whitehead, Jackson and Morris need to stay hungry. And keep playing like it.

Russell is playing on wrong side of the DL, until he's given opportunity at LDE he's in an uphill battle.

And no more injuries.

All in all, a very healthy and productive camp. Nothing too serious so far, Gregory and Lawrence aside.

Looked at last year's second preseason box score. Holy crap, we hardly played the starters at all. Romo had one series, I think McFadden had two. Weeden was only in three series. Randle had the most work of the "starters" and none of the top 3 receivers had a catch nor did Witten. So, it is safe to say we probably are not going to see a whole lot of the starters.

I am guessing 1-2 series for Romo, the rest of half for Dak and maybe the first drive of second half, then Showers. I bet Tyron sits again, give that stinger all the time off they can.

On the RB's it is going to be a long night for Jackson. Morris probably plays 3-4 series but the rest is Jackson, Smith and Smith.

Should see the starting WR's for Romo's time and maybe one series for Dak, if that. Jones and Mayle should have a chance to excel. Would like to see Lucky get some work as a slot receiver.

Generally if guys aren't working, they won't play. So I think Tapper is out another week. Since Mayowa and Collins just came back, it would not surprise me if we sit them as well. So who starts at DE? Do they let Lawrence get out there a little? Is it Russell and McAdoo? Oh my God. Jenkins probably gets some work there even though we seem to like him more as a DT. Would love to see Crawford, Thornton and McClain do some DT work together. Once they get out. It's gonna be a whole lot of Coe, Okoye and the aforementioned Russell, McAdoo, Jenkins and Jack Crawford.

LB's will be interesting. I would think Lee would like to get a little time with Hitchens. Would they consider Nzeocha in Wilbur's place? We have seen what Wilber can do at LB....heard he got some pass rushing work this week with all the injuries so he might even get some time with his hand on the ground. I am excited to see Damian Wilson in his debut. I need some hope that these young LB's are going to be ready for prime time. I wanna see more of Morris and Akunne as well.

I really want to see the corners play some more aggressive coverage.

With a hodge podge mix along the DL, all I know we will get 50 threads on how our defense sucks, and will suck, how they sucked in the past and it's all Jerry's fault......:muttley:....

Hoping to see at least a few plays from Mayowa, doubt Collins will be in there. Maybe DLaw gets a series or two. Probably a lot of Jenkins. Jack Crawford too as well as Okoye and McAdoo.
In 2nd half will see Zach Wood just about the entire time.

Will this be their last full camp in Oxnard?

With the Star opening in Frisco could camp move to the new indoor stadium and practice facility ?

Have heard they still plan on split camp for the forseeable future. They like the weather and the proximity to other West Coast teams for preseason games.

If the MMQB guys are there today, sounds like they are getting treated to a sh** show.....Free, Smith, Romo, Witten, Scandrick, Lawrence and a few others off. Team session it sounds like Dak and Showers are both looking bad.

I'm interested in the DL. Thornton and Jenkins showed up the first game, I'd like to see them be consistent and do some damage this game. As far as the DEs - sigh- I'm just hoping somebody gets 1 sack, and I'm ready to crown him our best nonsuspended DE.

Yep, Jery is going to sign an extension at some point. Although I completely understand Dallas fans wanting camp in Texas I also get why the Cowboys like Oxnard, mainly because of the weather but also because of the LA media market.

Plus I like that we get away for camp. I believe there is something to being away from home and bonding together. The miserable Bengals hold their training camp in their stadium. I would hate that.
