on aldon smith and josh price brent (atleast hopefully) since you would think the league will want to make the annoucement before the final 53 man roster cuts.

So over or under Aldon smith 4 games no appeal afterwards?

over or under Josh Price Brent 6 games no appeal afterwards?

I figure you're about right on Smith with the 4 games, but I think he appeals and will play against us week one. I think you're about right on Brent, too, but I don't think he'll appeal. JMO

Sounds about right, This happened before to us, but not to other teams. Or he won't make the decision until after week 1. Either way that's my bet.

Hypothetical question. What happens if Aldon Smith gets a 4 game suspension, he appeals it and is able to play against us, then he gets hurt against us and is expected to miss 4 games?

Then he gets to server the suspension while injured. The league doesn't take injuries into account, IIRC.

Actually, I'm to the point I don't care if Smith plays or not. Our offense matches up pretty well with SF's defense. We moved the ball and scored on them before, we can do it again.
I'm more concerned on how our defense will play. I do think they will play better than most feel they will.

Yep...I think our D will tell the tale.

Does Brent need to be under contract for his suspension to go into effect?

the cowboys have to stop niners from running the ball if they don't stop that we don't have a chance.

I bet Brent gets longer than a six game suspension. He killed someone.

Donte Stallworth got a year suspension for hitting and killing a pedestrian. Same as the Josh Brent situation or different? Donte hit a guy that was a complete victim. Josh was driving and a passenger that willingly got in the car with him died as the result of the accident. It could be argued that the situations are different. But the result was the same.

Remember King Goodell has to deal with Irsay at some point and you know he wants to go easy on one of his bosses. Will that factor in to what he decides for Smith and Brent?

I'll go with 8 - it would be a full year but he already missed 2013 as he stupidly tried to fight the conviction.

We may be looking at a totally different D-line after week 6 with Spencer, Lawrence and now maybe Brent. Hopefully Brent has a trainer all ready and is in descent shape.

There was a report about Brent working out with Gurode at the Michael Johnson performance center.

http://cowboysblog.***BANNED-URL***...t-working-his-butt-off-to-return-to-nfl.html/

It's obviously dependent on Brent not being suspended for the year.

Stallworth did, but his trial and penalty were completed entirely in the off-season (it didn't go to trial IIRC). That's the only thing that makes it different really.

He served 30 days.

To me it was a bigger crime to take the life of a guy who was just crossing the street trying to get to a bus stop than a guy who knowing full well that the driver was drunk and still willingly got in the car to ride with him. Both tragic, but one was killed by somebody else and the other took a risk by willingly getting in the car.

Wasn't Stallworth also a repeat offender?
