It's not superstitious. It's a known fact that different crews call the game differently than others. For example some crews call more flags on visiting teams. Some let teams play more physically. Some act like the field is a laundromat and drop flags every other play.

Just because people want to know the crews doesn't mean they are looking for bias or favorable calls. It's just some crews call games in ways that can either benefit a team(or both) or hurt a team(or both) due to play styles or various other situations.
