Tony Dorsett on Deep Blue series

I was 7 years old and growing up in the center of Wisconsin. At At this time, I didn't have a #1 favorite team but three: Minnesota Vikings( related to Bud Grant) , Los Angeles Rams( liked their logo) and Dallas Cowboys( always on TV and loved the Doomsday Defense name) . I was really mocked because I was told my these friends and their parents, I had to be a Packer fan. Now, I didn't like the color green and Lynn Dickey was the QB of Green Bay. A player with a girl's name? What? in 1977, an amazing RB was on TV quite a bit for the Univ of Pittsburgh named Tony Dorsett. In 1977, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks were brand new franchises. Tampa Bay had the #1 pick with Seattle the #2 pick. Buccaneers selected Ricky Bell ( USC ) then Dallas drafted up from 14th pick to Seattle's #2 spot and drafted Tony Dorsett. Dallas then became my favorite team.

It was an excellent watch. I’ve been a fan since 1966, but I have to admit that it had been so long since I’d watched TD that I had forgotten just how fast and quick he was, yet almost always finished his run falling forward at 190. He made moves seemingly without losing any speed. It’s hard to watch the videos and not believe he was the best RB ever to wear the star.

Loved watching him run. So fluid and fast and smooth.

Dallas has had 2 of the best ever RB”s the NFL ever seen.
Chicago had 2 also in Sayers and Payton.

Can’t recall any other team that had 2 of the best.

Though Dorsett turned me into a Dallas fan.....Walter Payton is still my ALL-TIME favorite NFL player.
