1-1 to Dez for a TD
0-0 to Witten
2-12 to everyone else

Yep we only targeted Dez once on third down and never targeted Witten. Great defensive game plan by Detroit and/or do we just need to take chances occasionally and force the ball to Dez or Witten despite coverage? Williams, beasley, harris, hanna did not cut it. We need a healthy Miles back out there to get open, whether you guys wanna give up on him or not. Also need to stop playing conservative on the road, as if we get anywhere in the playoffs, it will be through another team's stadium.

This whole Miles can get open thing is a myth. He's no better than Cole at getting separation.

BTW Detroit was not much better at third down, 3-11 compared to our 3-13.

Miles has been a pro bowl WR. He can still contribute more than Beasley when healthy IMO. I know when healthy is a very iffy statement. Hopefully he makes a bigger impact than Spencer or Ratliff this season.

Also point of emphasis of this thread is we still only threw Dez and Witten a combined 1 pass on third down. Not trying to completely make this a Miles thing.

the real question is....whatever they did to take dez out the game....why did we not do it to megatron? I know Megatron is a great player and cannot be totally shut down...but really a historic performance?! Against our 50m CB?

They didn't do anything to take Dez out of the game, the corner played him tight and our qb does not trust himself to get to them the ball in tight coverage.

I think it has more to do with our offense not doing what Detroit was and just getting Dez the ball any way possible. Same sort of coverage but Stafford at home felt more comfortable than Romo on the road slinging it in there to his playmaker. Dez had several 200 yd games last year, I understand not quite the game CJ had yesterday but still gotta give him a chance to rack up those numbers. Up to Garrett to draw up the play, Callahan to call the play and Tony to throw the ball whether we want to play cautious on the road or not.

the 2nd td pass to dez was in VERY tight coverage and double coverage. the CB was literally an inch from touching the ball.

Yet we did not take that chance until the fourth quarter with that same coverage over there all day. Not all on Romo, guarantee you he wanted to let loose and throw it up a couple times. We played conservative on offense because the D was getting stops.

I dont disagree there. The coaching staff has no ability or desire to blow a team out or keep the pedal to the metal and dont let up. We like to play within a point or 2 and cross our fingers the clock will tick faster at the end of the game.
