Rehashing some things that were said post draft: I really dont think we drafted him in the 4th to not use him. I think when they took him, they had a clear vision of what he can bring to the offense. Duke Johnsonish back that doesnt have the natural running ability as Johnson, and isnt as shifty as Johnson but has a top gear Johnson lacks.

Now that camp is upon us and pads come on soon, how he is utilized is probably going to be what I follow most in camp. As fans we wanted a more inventive offense. We wanted more motion and a more diverse route package. Following Pollard in camp I believe should give us an idea of how much progress the offensive system has or hasnt made

I draw the line in the sand with Zeke. I usually support players when it comes to contracts. However, with Zeke he has played in par with what is expected from a 4th overall pick. Zeke has been paid well compared to most players.

I roll the dice with Pollard. Pollard's tape is downright explosive and Dallas has one of the better O-lines in the game. The team should go with Pollard. The results of the team will either prove Zeke correct or incorrect.

Tape?? :lmao::laugh::lmao2::lmao::lmao2:

So, what's your point? Zeke replacement to open the season if he doesn't report?

Maybe. McClay seemed to be of the view that Pollard can run between the tackles. They don’t view him as just a gadget guy. And there’s reason to believe he was Moore’s pick so he has some creative ideas on how to use him. The offense would surely look different with Pollard as the lead back. But I’m not sure it would be markedly worse.

My hope is Kamara
Kamara is way too ambitious for me. Pollard has very very limited tape as a runner. Kamara was a featured back in college and has shown that in the NFL. Johnson was featured in college as well, but In the NFL he has mainly served as a recieving back

Great post!! I agree. I don't think Kamara-that would be awesome- I could see him being used a lot like Duke. I think Dallas will for sure use him a lot. RB, WR, Return game. I love it.

No Pollard has no bearing on Zeke at. He isnt a featured back type. He wasnt draft to be Zeke's back up.

I think these are hasty assumptions. Is Kamara a lead back? He plays a different game than Zeke does, for sure, but I don’t see why he’s not a lead back. The Saints seem to think he is, having let Ingram walk. Management dropped Kamara’s name when talking about Pollard post-draft. I think that’s probably the kind of role they’d like to see him play, ideally.

I don't think Pollard is a back that can carry the load that our offense requires. If Zeke holds out for any period of time they will have to bring someone in........

Its way too much of a projection for him to make me think of him as featured back in the NFL. He was Memphis's 3rd leading rusher and only carried the ball 78 times last year.

Whether people like it or not, Zeke is going to be extended. So Pollard as a featured back is irrelevant really

I don't think any team drafts a player in the early to middle rounds to not use them, but teams also understand 4th rounders are never sure things, and they have to get them into camp to see if they really can contribute what they hope. Bottom line is the decision to use him and how much cannot be made at this point. As training camp and preseason play out things will get clearer.

I've watched a lot of Memphis game footage and Pollard.

I would reserve judgement on his rushing skills.
He has good ability as a rusher but Memphis had 3 future NFL RBs on their roster.
- Henderson 3rd round 2019.
- Pollard 4th round 2019.
- 3rd RB projected to 2nd/3rd in 2020.

IMO, he has some Alvin Kamara type physical abilities.

Pollard's ability to catch the ball in the flat and then accelerate is about as good as it gets.

Heck the Saints did not even know Kamara was gonna be Kamara. Those are my fanatic goals and Im sticking to it!

Something that both Pollard and Weber have is great balance through contact.

Some otherwise great athletes don't have it (Darren McFadden didn't).
