But I do think Owens' overbearing nature could be suffocating, and perhaps be a distraction during the games.

I thought Tony and the 1st offense got some good quality work in Friday. At least that is how I view it. We did some good thing and a few mistakes build off that and keep working as we get ready for the real deal.

I have no doubts Tony is a good quarterback. But I think some posters miss the point. Tony isn't criticized because he's not a good quarterback. He's criticized - right or wrong - because he can't win in December and in the playoffs.

Really, Tony's quarterback ratings/season doesn't really start until December (assuming the Cowboys are in a position that games in December are meaningful.)

I agree but the team needs to play better in Dec. I also think yes it does matter than he plays good early in the year just as it is important that he is playing good late in the year but that goes for the team in general.

For Tony to play better in Dec means a lot of guys need to play better in Dec. We gave up 12 sacks in Dec alone compare that to any other month in the season. You can't allow defense to put that kind of pressure on the QB. Tony has to do his part I don't doubt that at all but those around him also have to step it up. If this team starts winning in dec and the post season it will be because as a group they stepped up their level of play from what they have shown in the past.
