Im gonna go ahead and compare the 2 ... Great player on a crappy team ... do you agree?

Did Archie even get his team to the playoffs?

I think he's more Dan Fouts or Warren Moon.

Disagree....Saints had really crappy teams, and was Archie really that good of a QB? Or just people want to remember him as one because of his sons' successes.

romo really is that good, look at his stats, and the Cowboys aren't as crappy of a team as the Saints were. They just don't get the job done when needed.

Kind of like building a house, looks great go up, but as soon as the storms come through, it gets knocked down!!!

Have you seen Archie's number? The guy was horrible. I'll never understand what people see in him.

That's what I meant in my post....people seem to think he was better than what he was. Thinking of his college stats and his sons NFL success.

I watched some Saint games in the 70's. You guys have no idea just how PUTRID they were. They made the Bungles of the last 20 years look like the 60's Green Bay Packers. Archie NEVER had any kind of an O line, RB or much in the way of receivers. Yet he somehow made plays. All the while getting pounded like Carr did in texas- only for twice as long.

He was pretty bad, ranked near the bottom of the league in QB rating most years until 1977 when he finally became a top 10 QB for the last few years of his career with the Saints. Of course, that team he was on was horrible.

125 touchdowns, 173 interceptions, 67 QB Rating, 55 Completion %.

Those were Manning's numbers. What a horrible comparison. :laugh2:

So that excuses his AWFUL numbers? Give me a break. This is a joke of a comparison anyway you look at it.

Archie was considered in the same league as Staubach at the time . They were two of the best at the time along with Bert Jones .

The Archie , Bert and Roger comparisons was a regular topic on NFL Sunday shows . The same was in the old Dallas Cowboy paper at the time .

the joke is you thinking you actually have any knowledge of Archie Manning as a QB in the NFL. I do. So go somewhere and let the adults continue the conversation.

When you have more INT's than TD's, you sucked. Period.

Bert Jones was what I would consider the best qb I saw the Colts have until Peyton Manning. Unfortunately he was a little fragile and did not last long. But he was extremely good for a while.

Typical- another one with knowledge out of a web site.

If you had bothered to read my post, the aint's from 1970 through about 1976 were the ABSOLUTE worst team in the NFL by acclamation. They had NO talent at all EXCEPT basically Archie.

NO D
NO O LINE
NO WRS
NO RBS

Sounds like the exact same excuse people use to justify how horrid Tebow is.

That still doesn't excuse him throwing 50 more picks than TD's. Guarantee you Romo would've done alot better.
