Tony Romo feeling better

Wade Phillips did not have an official injury update because players did not have to report to Valley Ranch until 1 p.m. but he said a phone call was placed early Monday morning to Tony Romo.

Romo suffered a lower back injury when he was kneed when making a tackle of DeAngelo Hall in the first quarter.

"Tony says he feels a lot better today," Phillips said. "He has a little bit of stiffness; had a quite a bit of stiffness [Sunday} but says he's a lot better."

With a short week to get ready for Thursday's game the Cowboys do not do much physically in practice. In effect, they have sped-up walkthroughs but they are not in pads until gameday.

Romo will receive treatment through the course of the week but Phillips was not sure if Jon Kitna would necessarily take more or any first-team snaps in practice.

Finding a way to win?

The last time the Cowboys came off a win and the general theme was, "Gosh that was awful," was at Kansas City when Miles Austin won the game in overtime.

And that got the Cowboys started on a four-game winning streak.

Maybe it can happen again, who knows?

But the Cowboys are now 3-1 when they have been tied or trailing after three quarters. Last year they were 1-6 in such games. Earlier today on The Ticket, I heard George Dunham talk about how last year's team would have lost Sunday's game.

I tend to agree with that. Last year was just a bad fit all the way around with that team. This year it's different. Keith Brooking talked about "absolute zero panic," from the defense. Jason Garrett said, "The positive is that the guys hung in."

And there's this - Tony Romo will give them a chance to win the game even in a game when he's not at his best.

He throws three interceptions against the New York Giants, but helps deliver a go-ahead drive late in the fourth quarter. At Denver, he takes the offense to the Broncos 2, trailing 17-10, but two failed slant routes to Sam Hurd ended the game. After his interception at Philadelphia he completed 7-of-9 passes for 109 yards, including the game winner to Austin.

And on Sunday, he completed 7-of-8 passes for 60 yards and scrambled 5 yards for a first down on a third-and-3 play, ending the drive with a draw-it-up-in-the-dirt touchdown pass to Patrick Crayton.
