Has Romo made his final decision on whether or not Spencer is staying yet?

It's possible b/c the truth of the Romo OL/WRstuff reported this week was... (CONT)

Romo was saying he'd rather have FA WR/TE added then draft one, because of learning curve.OL & RB he can coach up draft picks on field(cont)

JJ relayed story to media, but it was reported differently that made us think he was saying Romo preferred "targets" over "protection"

Ed Werder ‏@Edwerderespn
The point Jerry is making about Romo's mobility is that you can't have it all with salary cap and Romo prefers concession on OL than WR-TE

The media has really dropped the ball on this...

Romo would rather have a FA WR/TE over drafting one because of the big learning curve, whereas he can coach up a draft pick OL or RB (pass pro) on the field.
That's how I read it too, and it's really pretty clear what his thought process was.
I wish people would stop making things up.

Thanks for enlightening some who hadn't seen this.

So then there's hope we may address OL early in the draft?

Post 16 doesn't really contradict the OP.

Not sure why someone changed the thread title.

It was changed for clarity and to point to the actual quotes.

Sure it does.

He was saying Romo chooses a poor oline in favor of better WR/TEs. Post 16 says that is not the case. When given the choice, Romo would prefer veteran WR/TEs via free agency and getting new blood on the oline via the draft, because he thinks he and the coaches can coach up the young oline players more quickly than the WRs.
I do think the general take is that most WRs doen't really break through until their 3rd season. There are always exceptions, but that is the general idea.

The OP does not say that at all.
The whole purpose was to say we choose a bad line over bad WRs...which is false.

Would like to read some comments from some of the anti-Jerry vigilante group on here, regarding this topic. To see how they would spin this.

The rumors and speculation post have been terrible this year.

there is big misconception that needs to be cleared-up because some posters seem to be on auto-pilot when discussing it. Jerry Jones gave Tony Romo the option of putting more resources toward WR/TE/OL. He choose WR and TE. It was agreed upon and implemented. He felt he had the feet to make up for the weaker O-line but would have more talent at WR and TE (which he does).

Tom Brady on other hand disagrees. Its clear to anyone who has watched that team that they don't give a hoot who is catching the ball. Brady clearly has chosen a better OL over WRs. Its a philosophical difference between two QBs.

Personally, I like to see Romo change his thought process and ask for more resources toward OL. Maybe Dallas doesn't need two 1,000 yard receivers. They won't have HOF TE forever. Stabilizing OL becomes even more important at Romo gets older and will undoubtedly loose some of that escapability. I would like to see shift in thinking from Romo that gets communicated to Jerry and let it start now before FA & Draft.

I thought something was going to be done to trolls who's sole purpose is to destroy the board. Oh well.

The OP says Romo has chosen a weaker OL because he'd rather have better WR/TE, but post 16 points out that Romo's preferences are only to get WR/TE in FA and OL in the draft, so it's not that he wants a weaker OL, just the way he wants to acquire them.

To meet Romo's criteria, Dallas could spend its first-round pick each year on OL, and get all its WR/TEs in free agency, and the team certainly wouldn't have a weaker OL.

So in other words, don't place the blame on Romo for this offensive line. The fault for it belongs to Garrett, Jones and Callahan.

It's been reported that when push come to shove, Romo preferred a number of 'plus' size boutiques and JJ considered it because of the extra ad space on the garments but ultimately settled on Victoria's Secret.
