The Cowboys did Tony Romo a big favor when they released him today.

By cutting Romo, rather than placing him on the NFL’s reserve/retired list, the Cowboys gave Romo the freedom to change his mind about retirement and sign with any team at any time. Romo says he’s committed to broadcasting and is done playing, but many players have said they were done only to get the itch to play again. Romo can, and he doesn’t need the Cowboys’ permission now.

I have zero doubt if a great playing opportunity came along you would see Romo back on the field. Its very possible if the Cowboys needed him because Prescott wasn't available for an extended time you would see him back with the Cowboys..

If the Cowboys would have placed Romo on the retire list, he would have been obligated to pay back $5 million dollars in signing bonus money. By releasing him, Romo gets to keep the $5 million.

So basically Jerry gave Romo $5 million dollar severance pay..................I think he "did right" by Romo

Pfft! Jerry Jones! He could've easily traded Romo to CBS for a first round draft pick! He at least should've asked CBS for Dan Fouts and Ian Eagle.
Chris Simms is only 36

but seriously.......if Romo does break his word and come back all DAL loses is a draft pick that everyone said they weren't trading anyways

I thought it would be a significant pick but the situation played out a lot differently than expected
