Tony Romo Trade: A new possible landing spot revealed
http://thelandryhat.com/2017/01/27/...ly&utm_source=FanSided+Daily&utm_medium=email

...But FanSided’s Matt Verderame believes it’s the Kansas City Chiefs that could actually be the perfect landing spot for Romo this offseason.

“This is a great fit for a few reasons,” Veraderame wrote on FanSided.com Friday. “Over his four-year tenure in Kansas City, general manager John Dorsey has shown a propensity for working ahead, addressing problems a year in advance. Dorsey’s quarterback, Alex Smith, is 33 years old and has a contract that will likely be terminated or extended after the 2017 season. With that in mind, the Chiefs could draft a quarterback, or go after Romo (or, both).”

Verderame went on to explain how the Chiefs could absorb Romo’s massive salary in 2017 by cutting back-up quarterback Nick Foles and often-injured running back Jamaal Charles. The Chiefs also went 12-4 last season and their offensive line was better than average, ranked the 14th best in the NFL by Pro Football Focus. Both points being major positives for an aging quarterback with a limited Super Bowl window...

I could see it. It will improve the Chiefs who are already a reallu good team and are really close to Super Bowl caliber which Romo will like. How long do you think Jones will keep us and Romo waiting

It could put the Chiefs over the top, but I don't see it happening. Too risky. If it doesn't work out, the GM will be tarred and feathered.

The Chiefs? Flavor of the day.

Let's see we went from Denver to Houston to Pit to KC now?

OP stated just an option...but it does make sense.

KC does have a history of being near the very top, including a Lombardi. Think they once had SF's Joe Montana...

I don't see where KC makes much sense, Alex Smith just led them to a 12-4 season. He's not real productive but he had a solid year and doesn't turn the ball over very much. Whenever it comes time to replace Smith it won't be with an aging, injury prone veteran they'll be looking for a young QB. They may end up drafting one in April to develop them behind Smith. Alex Smith certainly didn't do anything this past season to make KC want to go in another direction at QB.

What's funny is everyone keeps picking teams they think Romo can put over the top when he never got the Cowboys past the divisional round of the playoffs. Let's not forget Romo's playoff record is 2-4. Not trying to slam him but it's not like bringing In Joe Montana or Peyton Manning.

Alex Smith has the same 2-4 playoff record as Romo. I can see the thought process some have that Romo is much more productive but he also turns the ball over a lot more and he can't stay healthy. Smith obviously wouldn't be happy with Romo being handed his job or having to complete with Romo for it so I don't see that being a good situation for KC or either QB.

Not into running the other direction, so for starters on making sense...

The quarterback and completion records for Tony Romo are among the very highest in NFL history...including Manning or Montana. As to come from behind games, Tony is up near the top as well. Final and determining feature, Tony produces in the passing game...and give him a very good team, and he'll secure a victory. KC has some pretty good special skills players for offense, and a solid defense as well. Makes sense...and bus drivers take the very best in roster to get over final hurdles.

Alex smith is a good game manager. He doesn't win games but he doesn't lose them either. I don't see them making a move but who knows

I wouldn't surprise me. The Chiefs took a chance on Joe Montana and it almost worked out. He lead them to the AFC title game.

They are going nowhere with Alex Smith. The GM needs to make a move to save his job. Romo on the Cheifs routs the Steelers. Alex Smith is always going to keep you in games because he doesn't turn the ball over and is mobile. He will not be the reason you win because he is too conservative and refuses to throw the ball to a WR unless it is a bubble screen or he is 10 yards wide open.

When the team needed Alex Smith to win the game he couldn't shake his "game manager-ness" and folded.

Hunt isn't going to fire John Dorsey. Old man Hunt kept Peterson around for years and years and his sons thinking is no different. I live up here and can tell you the Chiefs have never operated that way and aren't going to change now. If the stadium is full every Sunday the ownership is happy. It's been that way for 50 years.

Now this April they may draft a QB. Specifically one named Watson is what I'm hearing.

Noted.

I wouldn't be too upset about that. At least he would have some talent to work with and not a situation like Cleveland. They'd have to take him in the first round though. Don't think he lasts to their pick in the 2nd.

Bucky Brooks also has KC taking Watson in his mock.
