8 days?!?!? Holy smokes, that's beautiful. I knew it was approaching but have refused to look at the calander. Can't wait.
The Giants don't scare me. They exceeded expectations last year, and I expect they regress to the mean this season.
Yeah they are building, but they played well above expectations last season. They have no wrs in a passing league. I expect Waller to be a target monster at TE though. Barkley will be tough again, but there just aren't a lot of weapons to worry about. Missing on Toney set them back at the position.
“No WRs”……..a-hem, were you sleeping during the off-season?
The Giants added Parris Campbell, who caught 63 passes last year while on a very crappy Indy team with several very crappy QBs. He was finally healthy all year and he is very fast. We also added Jalin Hyatt from UT (Tenn) who caught 5 TDs in one game last year against powerful Alabama Crimson Tide. He has speed you won’t believe….ask Sauce Gardiner….last week, Jalin blew by him but the ball was overthrown down the sidelines by our 2nd string QB. This kid I predict will soon be a star in the league.
And, we already had two very good WRs in Isaiah Hodgins, who came out of nowhere to make a name for himself. He was a great possession receiver last year and caught a TD in 7 of 8 games, or something close to that. He has something like a 1% drop rate. And the improving Darius Slayton, whose biggest fault is dropping 15% of passes thrown. He worked on that during the off-season, so can’t wait to see if it helped. He too is very fast….the only fast one on the team last year.
Oh, and the men in street clothes are back - Sterling Shepard and WanDale Robinson, last years 2nd round pick. The former has been one of Jones’ most reliable receivers when healthy, and the latter was coming on strong during the season until his ACL injury. I’m not sure how much playing time either will get, especially early on, seeing that they are still recovering from an ACL injury….especially WanDale’s injury was only 9 months ago. I’m surprised he has been activated.
You know about DWaller, our new TE, plus you know how dangerous Barkley can be out of the backfield. So, in conclusion, I think you grossly underestimate the New Look Giants passing game. But, all this may not matter as much if we can’t keep guys like your Demarcus Lawrence off of Jones in the backfield. Evan Neal is supposed to be more mature and I do think if he stays healthy he will get better week to week. But Honestly, I’m probably closing my eyes in week one….I’m not sure he will be ready like I believe he will be in week 8. In order for NY to take advantage of all our newfound speed, we will need more than 1.5 seconds for the play to set up. Will our OL be up to the task? I sure hope so.
Yes, last year we had an easier schedule and that helped us be as successful as we were. This year is different…we have the AFC East besides the 3 teams in our division. We just can’t count on 20 points a game to win….we will have to score over 30 some weeks. Week one may be one of them. I’m just as excited as you are to watch how game one plays out, especially because it’s in NY In front of a very enthusiastic crowd. I doubt there will be as many Cowboy fans in the seats this year. Giant fans have come alive thanks to Mr Schoen, Mr Daboll, Mr Kafka, and Mr Martindale.
I haven’t talked about our improved defense, but that’s for another day. Cheers…K
