Too late for Romo?

First of all, this is not a Garrett "rant" because I am generally a Garrett supporter though my support has been wavering with every passing week.

The purpose of this post is to discuss is if life after Garrett is even an option with Tony Romo or do we just stay hopeful that we stay put and hope some magic happens similar to last season.

Tony Romo has been in the same system for essentially his entire playing career under Jason Garrett. We have seen veteran QB's around the league struggle, especially early, with a change in offensive philosophy. Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers, for example, saw some growing pains once they switched systems later in their careers. I am figuring we should count on two more years from Romo based on his current contract, anything past that would be a bonus but I am not counting on it and neither should the front office.

Figuring on this two year window with Tony Romo, do we have time to change our offensive philosophy? Could Romo handle a significant change at this point in his career without any significant growing pains? Or does Garrett give Romo the best chance to get a ring?

If Tony has been able to make this garbage system work, then he could make any system work.

I think the only sane approach going forward is to pull the plug on this disastrous JG experiment and try to salvage the remainder of Romo's career.

But, it will not happen. Even if Jerry is thinking it, Stephen won't allow it.

I think he knows this offense better than the coaches so it would be tough for him to want to scrap it. I could see Payton though working with him again and adding his wrinkles, which he would love.

I can also see Harbaugh bringing out the best in him and winning the SB next year.

Of course I could see us not doing anything and staying the course and all of us will wonder what might have been!

Payton would likely be the only realistic option. Due to the fact that Romo has some familiarity with him, I am still scared of the famous statistic that no coach has ever won a Superbowl with two different teams.
