I just found out today that I work with one.

Apparently, according to this guy, Quincy Carter would have been a better QB than Romo if not for his addiction to drugs.

I'm not making that up.


Also, Romo has played on the most talented team in football his entire career. Also not making that up.


God I hate ignorant people. It's not like I think Romo is "Great". I think he's a very good qb. But morons like this guy make you have to go to the "Extreme" just to counter their extreme stupidity.

That's a relief, because for a minute there it looked like you made the amateurish mistake of confusing QB play with team play yet again. It's so embarrassing to watch our own fans fall for that sad head-fake every time someone trots it out.

Manning was lights out in the two SB runs - a 100.1 Passer Rating in the playoffs in those two seasons. He averaged 35 throws a game. He threw 15 TDs and was picked only twice.

This isn't Trent Dilfer driving the bus and averaging fewer than 20 passes a game with 4 TD and 4 Ints. This isn't Brad Johnson scraping by with an 80 Passer Rating.

I hate Eli, but he took his team to two Super Bowl victories, played lights out doing it and did all this while having a grand total of ONE home game in the playoffs.

I have no problem saying Eli played well in the playoffs overall during the two Super Bowl runs, but like with virtually any quarterback, the team helped take him to the Super Bowl victories as much, if not more than, he took the team there.

Good breaks and good team play that usually supports good quarterback play get Super Bowl victories. Some teams can overcome a Trent Dilfer-type QB, but most need at least an Eli or a Romo to play his part. So give credit to Eli for playing his part, no more, no less.

Then Cohen who admitted she was a lifelong Giants fan asked him about Romo's chance in the two games against the Giants last year and he shut her down again, saying that he was phenomenal the first game and got sacked six times in the second one and was running for his life and couldn't guard Victor Cruz from the bench.

He also got agitated at her for saying it was all Eli and all Tony. He said Plaxico won those games, Strahan won those game, I won those game together -- not Eli, just like Romo doesn't lose his.

But the best was after the interview when she said "Well, all I know is that MARCELLUS Bennett said last week he'd pick Eli because he looks for the open man."

That statement from top to bottom is so hilarious it speaks for itself and she couldn't get his name right saying it about five times wrong.

Finally, the ESPN narrative on Romo crumbles underneath scrutiny as they scurry about like rats from water.

As much as I hold the dropped pass earlier in the second half against Crayton, I believe the end zone pass was just a failed read. It appeared to me that Crayton read that the defender was between him and the back of the end zone and was stopping the route in front of the defender. Romo read that Crayton had the defender 1-on-1 and was going to outrace him to the back of the end zone.

Sometimes those things happen.

Yep. They were super-hot and played really, really well. The whole team did. I watched those games, too. Those teams were clearly better than our teams in each of those years; their QB wasn't, though. And even if he were, it wouldn't be because he had Superbowl rings.

I don't understand why people conflate QB play with Superbowl victories. Sure, the two factors are related, but the best QBs don't necessarily win the Superbowl each year. In fact, they often don't, precisely because other factors matter, too.

Eli's a good QB, but until last season, he wasn't even really in Romo's class. If he sustains his current level of play, we'll see. He's in the prime of his career, has nothing to prove. He might just end up getting better and better.

Dan Marino is in the HOF, but the poor dude did not win anything.

Jim Kelly went to many SB's. He might have won one if the defense would have helped.

So every time Romo throws two TDs and doesn't turn over the ball, Dallas wins, right? Or guys like you say Romo did everything he could to win the game, but the defense/special teams/whatever cost them? Several members here would be bashing him for the bad passes that (Eli threw that) should have been interceptions.

I don't discount Eli playing his role and doing it well enough overall in the playoffs, but that's all it is, one role among many others that made the Giants Super Bowl champions.

When, and only when, people can reach agreement on that can a true comparison of the QBs be made. Toomer, at least, seems to understand that.
