Amani Toomer isn't ready for retirement yet.

The Chiefs signed the longtime Giants receiver Tuesday afternoon after watching him work out for the team Monday evening.

Toomer is unlikely to be a special teams force, expect him to compete for significant snaps at receiver right away.

And since we wrote about the impact of the expected move just a few hours ago, there's no reason to continue to repeat the points here.

D.J. Hackett, who has tried out for numerous teams including the Chiefs, has to be wondering if he's going to find another gig.

My friend (49ers fan) was hoping they'd sign him in case Crabtree holds out a long time.

It's the 10,000 yard mark.
He's like 600 yards off.
I'm sure that played a big role in his return.

He's a good receiver and great locker room guy, good for him.
Out of the people in the Gnats locker room, he's one of the people I wouldn't mind donning the star on the helmet.

At the very least it doesn't speak well for their WR corps.

He'll help the Chiefs considerably, especially potentially Matt Cassel and his abysmal red zone performance.

Don't know about all that. He hasn't broken a 1000 yards since 2003, but when they brought in Plaxico and Shockey he really only needed to put up enough numbers as a decent #2 which I think he did. He was always good for the 50-60 catches a season.

I think Eli will miss him more than the Giants fans would ever want to admit.

His numbers since 2003 are basically pedestrian. I doubt they'll have a hard time replacing that. In fact I bet despite rookie WR's struggling as much ashtye normally do that Hakeem Nicks easily replaces Toomer's production.

He was always solid against us. And a security blanket for Eli.

I'm all for him being out of the division.

Bobby Engram (if healthy is good)
Armani Toomer (if healthy is solid too)

He's averaged 50 catches a season since 2003 and that's with being anything from the #2 to #3 option on the team. I'd hardly call that exactly pedestrian. He filled his role as the complentary receiver quite well.
