I would not be surprised if Diggs is our pick (assuming Kinlaw, Henderson, the top 3 WRs, and Chaisson are gone). I don’t love it, but he has the length, athleticism, and upside to become a very good starter (even if his technique right now sucks).

I agree. Diggs most likely. Murray also in the running...

Okudah is a local kid who starred at Grand Prarie.
He is elite in every way.

He would be an R1 WR and is an elite special teams guy.
Just born lucky. #1 rated athlete of his class.

CB depth is good all-around but outside O they all have some weaknesses.
DAL is in pretty good stead here because they need a guy who can play but don't need CB1 day 1.
Chido, Brown and Lewis can all play.

If Henderson is gone I think DAL would move down a bit if they wanted a CB.
Gladney is a better player long term than Diggs imho.
Bama guys are generally maxed out.

Play? Sure.

Play well? Not so much.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised with CB play this year in a different system.
One that helps elevate Lewis especially.

Chido and Lewis are ascending players and Brown is in his prime.
Add a solid CB to that group for depth and I like it quite a lot.

I very much hope you are correct.

Here's my opinion on each:
  1. Chido is a try-hard guy with good tools, but he's always been a 'day late and a dollar short'. Always in the picture, but enough behind to where he fails to make or stop a play
  2. Lewis is feast or famine. Either he makes a big play or he gives one up to the opponent. I think that, more than height, was why he hasn't played more.
  3. Anthony Brown is a talented athlete, but he's never been able to put it all together to where it translates reliably to the field. But the team feels differently based on giving him that extension.
My belief is that the organization is going to do what they can to beef up the pass rush in front of those guys and hope that it helps them to become more effective playmakers. It certainly won't hurt that opponents won;t know exactly what the defense will be doing on every play.

CB is a position that tends to get over drafted. I am not enthralled with this class, however CB is likely our biggest need. That's not a good combination.

I was very hard on Chido last season. After his rookie season, I expected big things. When I go back and watch film on him, he was actually much better than the naked eye meets. If you compare his stats, he compares very close to James Bradberry who just got a monster contract from the Giants.

The biggest knock I have on Chido, is they tend to put him 1 on 1 with taller receivers and zero safety help. That is where he struggled most. Guys like Preston Williams. He was flat out terrible against the Eagles. We have to remember he gets to work with Al Harris and Mike Nolan now. When he turns his head, he is a solid CB.

I will be one of the people who believe Chido and Lewis take huge steps to becoming quality starters starting next season.

I hope that you're right and that better coaching helps these players to be better. That's how I feel about the team in general so I should by extension feel the same way about the cornerbacks as well.

We will need to draft more than one CB this year. I don't think we have one CB under contract after this season.

my take on the 3.
1. Chido is an elite athlete learning the nuances of CB.
2. Lewis is going to occasionally get knocked off but plays the slot well and is a good inside cover option with his quickness.
3. Brown is a solid but unspectacular player. You can't M2M him versus Wr1 but he will battle and if helped over top will play tough and compete.

They don't have an eraser now but I am ok with simply solid all around.
Teams just game-planned BJ31 away as it was.

They def need one more viable CB be it draft or vet FA signing. Then 2 developmental ones.

Cavenaugh's are listed with Broaddus in parenthesis
  1. Okuda, Ohio St...(Okuda)
  2. Henderson, Florida....(Henderson)
  3. Diggs, Alabama....(Diggs)
  4. Fulton, LSU....(Fulton)
  5. Arnett, Ohio St....(Gladney)
  6. Terrell, Clemson...(Terrell)
  7. Gladney, TCU...(Arnett)
  8. Igbinoghene, Auburn.... (Danzler)
  9. Danzler, Miss St....(Igbinoghene)
  10. Robertson, La Tech...(Green, Ok St)
The top 7 should be gone by our second pick and we're likely going to be in trouble if we don't get one of them.
