They aren't popularity contests, it is judging the best teams.

As an aside, the Canucks play in Vancouver and are the Arizona Cardinals of the NHL.

The Habs play in Montreal (Canadiens) and are in the same downward spin your wheels cycle the Cowboys are in.

if you are judging solely by championships, then they are 1 and Canadiens 2 (for North America), but if you add in soccer, then probably Manchester United would be 1

The only real problem I have with the list is that id does not include the 1946-1955 Cleveland Browns who were in 10 straight championship games and won 7 of them.

The NFL "old guard" at the time really hated the AAFC and to this day the NFL refuses to recognize the accomplishments of the teams in that rival league although they have no problem recognizing the teams from the AFL.

The Browns dominated the AAFC but it was regarded as an inferior league to the NFL (just like the AFL was until January 1969) but the first game the Browns played after joining the NFL in 1950 was against the defending NFL champion Eagles who they beat 35-10. They went on to win the NFL championship that season, beating the Rams, who were the highest scoring team in NFL history, in a close fought game.

The Browns played in 6 NFL championship games and won 3 of them after having won all 4 of the AAFC titles. How they continue to be overlooked by the NFL and the media is beyond me.

Add to that the fact that they had a streak of winning seasons that rivals our own with 24 years of winning records from 1946-1969 with only the 1956 season having a losing record (the year after Otto Graham retired). That wasn't so bad though because it enabled them to draft Jim Brown and they continued their run of winning seasons.

The AAFC may not have been of the same caliber as the NFL back then but they weren't that far behind, certainly no further than the AFL was for much of its existence.

I also think that our record of 20 consecutive winning seasons should carry more weight than it does with the media. It was an incredible feat that will likely never be duplicated.

I would throw Hockey right out of any debate since its now a minor sport.
Yankees were contenders almost continuously from 1921 to 1966. 45 years.
They had a couple of down years during WW2 but thats it. Then they were down from 67-75. Since then they have not been down for more then a couple of years since.

I almost flipped out to see that UCLA basketball wasn't included there, then saw that it was pro teams only.

Surprised you guys weren't higher than 10th.

Anyone that wants to throw hockey out the window and not include the Canadian's in any dynasty talk show's the ignorance of smoe of you people. Just because it doesn't get good tv ratings doesn't mean it isn't a true sport or they are no a dynasty. The Stanley Cup is bby far the hardest championship to win in sports. The Canadians have won it 23 times. How could you possibly not think that they are a dynasty. They won it ten times from 1964-1978. Sorry my friends but that is a dynasty.

I have a few problems with this list. First, I don't know how anybody can list the Bulls over the Lakers. Bulls were 6/6 but they had nobody to challenge them in there era. There were no other real good teams IMO. Those LA teams had Boston, Philly and Houston every year.

I also agree that the teams of the 70s and 80s were a much better dynasty then those of the early 90s Cowboys.

How on earth can you not have the Yankees of the 20s (Miller Huggins crew) on this list? Between 1921 and 1928, they won the World Series or ALC 6 of the 8 years. Murders Row With Ruth, Gehrig and all the rest. Won 126 games, batted .307 as a team and crushed all comers. 1927 team is widely considered the best team in the history of baseball. Started another streak with Joe McCarthy as skipper in 1932, same cast of core players, and won the WS in 32, 36, 37, 38, 39, 41 and 43. In fact, you can really just say that the Yankees are the best bar none really. Celtics of the late 50s and 60s were great but lets face it, the Yankees between 21 and 64 (44 years) either won the American League Pennant or the World Series 29 times. To me, the players changed but the Yankees were great from 21 thru 64. They are, without question IMO, the greatest Dynasty of all time in any sport. This can not even be intelligently argued against IMO.

The Problem with these kinds of articles is that they don't reach back to credit teams who accomplished great things in past history.

Canadiens have 24.

They have won it 10 times since 1967 when the NHL expanded.

You are correct. I missed the last one. So if you go back to 1964 they won it 12 times in 28 years.
