Top 3 defense?

This is a defense that I can have confidence in for a playoff game.

It's been a long time since I felt that way.

They are mature. They have some players that show up every week. They have guys who want to play for one another. They are building on things they do well.

These last five games will be a huge test.

But for the first time in three years I feel like the offense or the defense can win the game if need be. It used to be that I felt we had to put up 30 points or the game would be lost.

Theo is right. Nothing is as important when you talk about stats as the points allowed.

Bend, but don't break.

This defense has found a way to do that now.

Well, I certainly didn't expect a thread about our top 3 defense turning into a ***** fest about our O-line. Particularly after winning and going to 8-3.

I just don't think that our QB should have to dodge a free rusher as a precursor to every pass. It's a bit ridiculous.

I'm happy we're 8-3 and our offense looked good because the big play returned. At some point though, we're going to have to sustain drives and that's going to require more consistent play on the o-line.

We don't pass block very well and our receivers drop too many passes. It kills drives.

Our offensive line needs to pick it up.

We've said since the beginning of the year that this season banks on Romo's health, Romo's protection, and not turning the ball over.

Our OL is overrated.......plain and simple....

we get stuffed on alot of runs and we cant still figure out how to pick up a blitz...

Teams just run blitz and we struggle.....

You make a valid point, but it's not that simple.

We'll find out about this defense soon enough.

The next six games will be brutal. It will make or break this team. If they can get to the playoffs, they will have been battle tested.

We're just really inconsistent up front. Romo saves so many plays just by himself when most any other QB would take a sack. We've just got to get better in that area.

Man do I agree with that...this oline needs to get its collective heads out of their behinds...

Meh, it's all due to our offense and special teams giving us good field position.

That's what I read here, anyway. ;)

And to what David said about Everson's turnovers... All I have to say is Too Tall, Dutton, Manster, and Harvey. :)

Safety still our weak spot but u can't have pro bowlers in every position. Ball can't tackle very well but he can cover fairly well. I'll take his cover ability over Watkins tackling ability any day, especially in a pass happy league...

Dennis Thurman wasn't a very good option for teams to throw at either...

I really like this defense, and I like what Wade's doing with it. We're physical, we've been holding strong even with the offense firing blanks up until today and, generally speaking, I feel veery confident with that group on the field.

There are areas in which they can improve, but that's true with everything.

I don't know about a top 3 defense... I don't think they're a dominating defense yet either, so I'll say top 10.

Umm....statistically they ARE a top 3 defense in terms of scoring. So whether you "know about" it or not isn't exactly relevant.

Bob, you're avatar reminds me of these guys:

They're called Water Bears, but they usually look a lot less ugly under a microscope. Freshwater tartigrade. They all have 8 "legs" and some have suckers instead of the claws. Some can kind of be a little cute.

For the record, that avatar is Bob's senior class picture...

Why don't you break down how other teams have run against them. Do you think they've picked up 5 yards per pop and 50 yards here and there?

They crowd the line a lot which means that they'll get a lot of TFLs and tackles for 2 yard gains but will give up the long one when a runner gets free.

I don't have a breakdown for Oakland's defense, but 43.5 percent of all carries in the NFL go for 2 yards or less. Another 11.8 percent gain 3 yards, which means that 55.3 percent go for 3 or less.

The Raiders seemed to think our wide receivers couldn't beat their cornerbacks, so they played a lot of press coverage and crowded the box against the run. They were able to stop some of our runs short that way, but they also ended up allowing a lot of big plays because of it.

Werent The Giants Top 3 Or Even At First? Did You See Them Tonight?? Ranks Dont Mean Anything. We Do Have A Very Good Defense That Have Saved Us Alot Of Games. If The Offense Keeps It Going, I'll Put My Bets On The Boys Agains N.o
