5. Alex Leatherwood, Tackle (Alabama)
The Dallas Cowboys have boasted one of the best offensive lines in the NFL for much of the past decade. That unit was mostly built through the draft with players like left tackle Tyron Smith, center Travis Frederick, and guard Zack Martin. The three quickly became pillars of the offense, but those pillars are beginning to crumble.
4. Carlos Basham Jr., Edge Rusher (Wake Forest)
The Dallas Cowboys defense was really bad in 2020. The team gave up the fifth-most points per game in the NFL with 29.6. It also struggled to put pressure on opposing quarterbacks and only managed to accrue a thoroughly unimpressive 31 team sacks, tied for the 13th-fewest in the league.
3. Greg Newsome II, CB (Northwestern)
The Dallas Cowboys secondary was pitiful last season. The unit was one of only seven that allowed opposing passers to throw for a passer rating higher than 100. It also struggled, like most of the Dallas defense, to get takeaways.
2. Alim McNeill, DT (North Carolina State)
The Dallas Cowboys gave up the second-most rushing yards per game in the NFL last season with 158.8. The team was often simply outmatched in the trenches and it became apparent relatively early in the season that they could use an upgrade in the interior of their defensive line.
1. Richie Grant, Safety (UCF)
The Dallas Cowboys secondary is in dire need of an upgrade. This need obviously extends to the safety position. Even with the Cowboys reportedly signing safety Jayron Kearse, the position is still one of need for America’s Team. The 27-year old had 59 total tackles in seven starts with the Detroit Lions last year.
